Expired domains: is it worth it?

It says that google simply resets a site's entire authority when it expires. I would like to know your opinion and experience on this. If possible, answer the following questions:

1 - Do you still buy expired domains because of your authority?
2 - Do you believe that domain authority is lost and that you start from scratch?
3 - If it works, how long does it take for the content to be classified with all its potential?

Auction domains have grown in price probably more than 3x in the past few years and there are almost no available, clean, at least a little bit decent, expired domains available for free registration.

I deal with domains and after being in business for 6 years now, in 2021 I have recorded the highest profit and revenue.

Not all expired domain is good, you have to check the background of each expired domain before you purchased it. How it was used previously. You can buy live website with google Adsense that way you are 100% sure nothing wrong with it.

Depends the expired domain and the content you will post. Can be fast or slow.

Not the case from my experience. If the domain was expired for long time, after you register it again and establish a website on it, it takes about few months for its past backlinks to start giving effect. So it still works.

If you know what to look for in an expired domain, it’s worth more than a normal domain that has never been used.

What to look for part is a combination of a lot of things— and it takes a lot of research and dealing with comparative data from the past when the site was live to asses if the domain was clean and free from spam.

You never would want to pick up an experied domain that received manual penalties from Google.

otherwise not worth it.
