So, I was browsing expired domains and got lucky, just recorded a expired domain from a former italian "vip".
the website has 2.6k organic backlinks., many of them from top google websites and wikipedia.
If I redirect it, does it have to be niche related to give power?
let me know!

I have seen 2 software related expired domains pointed 301 to an authority Amazon reviews blog and it has HUGE traffic too. So, I think NO, it doesn't have to be niche related but it must have some very good high authority backlinks, ******** of course. I hope that helps :)

It's not necessary. But, having niche relevant domain will help you get more authority. Another important aspect is branding. If you have a keyword related to another niche in domain name, then it could be confusing to users as well.

Thing is, that 301 redirect may absolutely not work. Same as when you are building money site on an expired domain. You do everything right and shit simply doesn't do anything.

By using niche relevant domains, you are limiting the chances of this happening. And with redirects, considering the anchors and everything are redirected as well, you want to stick with niche relevancy, otherwise your anchor profile will look like potato.

Unless you own some super massive money site that wouldn't care about a few random anchors.

This is exactly what it is about.

In general, if niche of site is such to capture various niches and is massive overall, few random anchors won't harm.

However, I also recommend building it in the same or similar niche.

My opinion:
1) if niche related, ensure that, the expired domain, if pertaining to a brand, has a good reputation or else there will be a misunderstood drop in your actual new domain’s reputation
2) if reputation has been good, yes it will help your new domain to gain authority
3) ensure that what u said that the expired domains exisiting backlinks are a mix of DF BLs because in terms of redirection it’s only the DF links which pass their link juice because Of their DF BLs situation. NF backlinks don’t help too much.

NIche relevancy is recommended, but not necessary. It's hard to find domains in a specific niche, so you gotta work with what you have!

Build money site on your new domain OR redirect to exactly the same domain name but with different .tld. Exampledomain.it to exampledomain.com If possible recreate most linked pages.

It is not necessary, this can add authority, make sure the domain is clean but it will be more effective its niche relevant.

Not really. But it's better to pick something which is related to the same niche. I have a pbn which used to be complete niche but it seems alright.
