    Hello,

I bought a server from online.net and i have a wordpress site hosted on it inside a specific a folder.

However, I want to add a second website now, so i created a second folder, however I have my domain name on Gandi and I would like to know what are the proper DNS settings that i should set ?

I have already created an “A” record pointing to the ip of my server, but I do not know what to put on the CNAME?

Thank you in advance for any help you can bring me

If you have a server then add a new domain to it!

Thank you for your reply !

Actualy i am handling this service for a client. If you mean by adding the new domain is to transfer it completely then i can't do that, she wants to keep the domain at Gandi and point it from there to the new server to work remotely !
How do you suggest that i proceed ?

A record you have put is half the job. Make sure that you have A record for "www" and "@" which points to your server. Note, that the change may take up to 24 hours to take effect. Be patient.
Now, in the server you will need to create virtual hosts. Here's an example if you have ubuntu..

    Code:

If you have the new domain on Gandi you just change the DNS record to your server in the same way you did it with your old domain. Copy DNS record from your old domain and add it with new domain name, the rest should be the same.
On your server you need to point the new domain to a new vhost you have created!

its like you want to add 2 different domains on your server which point towards two different directories, right?

You need to set up the domain on the server itself (usually in the majority of the modern administration control panel once you add a new domain it will automatically create its own association folder to the new domain you add)

Thank you so much guys, i succeeding in doing so. The domain is now pointing to the my website in the virtualhost :D

However, the www.domain.com seems to be working but not the domain.com it doesn't redirect at all, i tried to create a new A record for "domain.com" but it tells me that i have the right to only add one A record.

Do you know any way that i can set up in my DNS settings for the domain to point both www.domaine.com & domain.com at the same server ?

    Thanks

    You forgot @ most probably.
If it says you can only add 1 A record, then something is wrong with the registrar.

The A record is pointing to the ip of the server and it has @ as you can see in the following pictures, these are my current settings:

Hmmm may be you need * (* means, forward every sub domain) instead of @. Refer to this article.
    Code:
    https://docs.gandi.net/en/domain_names/faq/record_types/a_record.html
Also try contacting their customer support.

OMG you're great :D I added a new A record and gave it * like you adviced me to do and it worked like a charm. Thank you so much Gogol, you helped me solve my problem !

Note: should the A record with @ remain or are these both A records needed ?
