[Journey] Growing my 2 toenails: Manually vs Automatically

Hi Everyone!

Just joined this forum two days ago. Very informative advice, knowledgeable members and eager to start this journey after reading many theads and pages.

So I have two IG accounts. One I started the last week of October of 2016 and the other one started in March 2016.

The one I started in March, it was related to my Affiliate site so I left it alone after posting some photos. The other one in October I am really passionate about.

My journey will split into two. The March one will take the automated road with FL, setting that up today, while the October one will be all manually and no bots whatsoever.

My first goal is to reach 1,000 followers on both accounts(Starting out small). Then I'll work my way up to a new goal after hitting that initial one.

I was inspired by @Jaymien seeing how he did his but I want to compare the two and try it out myself.

I will try to do daily updates. If I am too busy, I will do weekly updates of the two profiles, showing engagement rates, increase or decrease in followers and more stats. I will split them into two, March(Automated) vs October(Manual)

March's(Automated) Stats as of today:
Followers: 404
Following: 126

October's(Manual) Stats as of today:
Followers: 698
Following: 197

If you can find a good one that will accept you with 1000 followers, there is no harm in trying out.

whats stopping you from starting more accounts? you can be logged in on 5 accounts on your phone and no need to invest in proxies with just 5 accounts

@datsunguy I just want to try two out so far since I'm starting out. I do not want to occupy too much and get lost with more accounts that I cannot handle.

i Still reconmend doing so, you dont need to post daily and you can just automate them using FL.

Really interested to see on how you progress mate! Am starting a brand new personal account from ground 0 so seeing how you are manually progressing is definitely intriguing as I want to do the same.

What have you done so far initially to get those followers on the manual account? Just engaging with other people?

@LumGGs For the manual account I engage by commenting on photos. However, I don't do the typical "Nice pic" comments, too monotone/bot-like. I add a comment that relates to the pic. Nothing too lengthy. I comment on my followers' recent pictures and others when I explore.

Also I liked about 200-300 pics a day that are in my nitch and the hashtags that are geared towards the photos that I have used.

Day 1 of Journey

I used FL for the first time yesterday and I adjusted the numbers while following their guide. I just do the follow/unfollow and likes options on the program. I added the March account and got these stats after the first day.

March(Automated):

+101 Followers, +491 Following

However, I noticed something while reading the statistics and activity log so I will adjust the FL options to see if my theory is correct.

The Manual way, I have seen an increase as well. I am still confused about when to unfollow but I'll probably start doing that every other day. What I have been doing is following those people that liked my page as well as the popular profiles in my niche. Here are the stats:

October(Manually):

+41 Followers, +148 Following

I'm feeling more of the manual approach, even though the automated has a much more easier approach. I still comment on both profiles since I still would like to interact with people on the Automated profile as well. Stay tuned!

Day 2:

I have done some more adjustments with the follow/unfollow for the automated account but after today I will do something different since it did not do as well as I thought it would do. Also it has a lot more following than followers .

March(Automated) :

+45 Followers +348 Following(Yikes!)

I'll do some adjustments since this looks awful.

The manual one has been doing a little better. I follow at least 100 a day, keeping up do date with my followers, posted 2 times with some good engagements. Here are the stats below:

October(Manually):

+ 69 Followers, + 167 Following


It's only Day 2. I will give you all an update later either tomorrow if I have time or this coming Monday.

@Asif WILSON Khan Sorry that you are in pain. It's usually though the process of toenail avulsion where they just cut that piece out. If it persists, either phenol or laser treatment can do the trick to get rid of the root of that causes the ingrown toenail.

Day 3:

Very interesting things happened today. With the Automated account, I have adjusted it so it can focus on one thing rather than doing multiple tasks at the same time. It still did a few followers but did a lot of unfollowing, close to the ratio that I would like.

March(Automated):

+45 Followers, -122 Following


For the Manual Way, It's just an upward trend. I followed 125 and unfollowed 100 today. Met new people, more interactive, fun. Here are the stats for those:

October(Manual)

+52 Followers, +106 Following
