Will this plugin leave a footprint?
Short answer: NO. The plugin per se will not generate/print any identifying code in the front-end. In fact, when you download the plugin, we generate a unique name so that even if someone tries to manually check for the folder name they won’t be able to find out. In the case of the HTML templates, all styles are loaded inline so no bot or user has a way to verify that your PBN is using AccessShield PRO.

Can you tell me the difference with spyder spanker? The guy does not seem to maintain it anymore, the messaging is dead have to be a replacement

I'm going to post the reply here in case anyone was wondering.

AccessShield PRO does not use either .htaccess nor robots.txt. All the logic is performed by PHP so that we have the ability to include features like hiding the links but preserving the content, hiding only specific posts, blocking by country, generating some dynamic values in the HTML templates and much more.

We're not too familiar with that plugin but I can tell you that one of the best features of AccessShield PRO is the ability to silently block bots by showing them different content, or by hiding your links, for example. There are 5 different actions to choose from. AccessShield PRO also comes with 100+ bots already built-in so you do not have to mess with user agents and IPs. You can also whitelist bots by the domain of their IP. Perfect if you only want to allow Google and block everyone else. google.com is actually the only one allowed, everyone else is blocked. The default setup blocks EVERYONE except Google and Bing. The default block mode is whitelist, so the bots you see in the filters list are the only ones that are actually allowed to access your site. This setup is very aggressive but this is the most bullet-proof way to block ALL SEO crawlers.

You can always switch the block mode to blacklist and let anyone access your site except the bots listed on the filter list. This block mode is much more "relaxed" but a little less bullet-proof.
