Do you guys trust Neil Patel?

I would love your input. Do you trust Patel's guidance?

Not a chance in hell when it comes to SEO. He used to have some good insights on content and marketing, but that's all gone to shite since his started floating in the clouds some years back. Now it's mostly paying writers to write him content and either not bothering to read the content himself to see that they steal from others or then he just simply doesn't care.

I had been successfully avoiding him for quite some time now, but YouTube has since decided I should watch some of his garbage and keeps pushing it my way. Seriously dislike his on camera persona and style as well, but that's more of a question of personal taste than skill.

To sum it up, I'd steer away from him and, unless proven otherwise by a much more reliable source, ignore his advice altogether.

Can you give a few examples?

I personally enjoy Brian's work over on Backlinko. If he's not to your style then Ahrefs is pretty solid as well. Both blogs get a plus in my books for the data they include in most of their proper articles.

And in a weird perverted way I enjoy watching good old Rand Fishkin rubbing his magical whiteboard whilst trying to figure out how to grow a beard.

Why does he spend the time teaching idiots if his knowledge would work in the private field?

Because a lot of people spend money and do not take any action afterwards. And even if they did, they are 101 steps behind me and if you don't expose your real gems it doesn't really matter.

I get your point (it was my opinion for long as well) but I can not dominate every niche and infinite scale my business. This is why I decided to sell some of my skills in info products. It is extra revenue for me. The side effect can be extra (personal) branding so you can land high ticket clients or get asked to do public speaking whih brings in a lot of money if done right.

To OP: I do trust Neil Patel but I don't really like the guy or think his info is great.

Nope he just rewrite other guys blogpost.

Only guy I trust is backlinko guy ... I have learned a lot from his blog.

The more people know about a loophole, the more likely it will be fixed.

If you're going for bleached-white methods, coaching and consulting is a great income boost. But if you're doing anything in the deep BH realm, you're just shooting yourself in the foot by blabbing the details of your most profitable methods.

Do you trust Tai Lopez?
Omg yes! He is my absolute look up to mega super awesome guru!!! :smirk:

Jokes aside, I don't like the guy at all but from a marketing perspective he is the best at what he does which is conning people really lol Most of these SM guru's are like this. FOr instance, recently I saw a course by Charles Ngo, now in marketing he appears to have a high reputation right..So this course was released in 2018 and I can't even remember the name as I trashed it instantly and don't know the original price either but 3-4 figures.

For this course he was working with 2 so-called expert brothers who developed a "system".

To cut things short what the course was about was collecting emails...fucking marketing 101 so collection emails, how to setup a landingpage in clickfunnels and a lot of fluff and BS build around it..

So like Taj, these guys are making fat stacks with BS. I absolutely hate this kind of marketer but it does work.

OT same goes for this Neil Patel, an absolute idiot that rehashes everything, he doesn't even give it it's own twist but just because he has this Indian nerdy appearance and he knows how to talk, people fall for this BS.

The best way to gather info for SEO is not to follow Toast, Rand Fisherman and Steal Patel, but for example:

1. Ahrefs Blog
2. John Muller at Twitter, he really provides the best info you need.
3. Detailed.com is a pretty good blog
4. seroundtable.com

Do what you want, but do not take those SEO "guru" information as a base knowledge. It's maybe readable for overall idea, but mostly it's total bullshit.

No..I follow successful IM "gurus" for their marketing strategies. Most of their content is circlejerk

He has good analytical skill, and dont you think he knows about BH stuffs? yes he knows. but he is associated with google, off-course he can't promote BH stuff right?

Also, I always listen to most of the people and do what i want.

What you can learn from him ?

The way he publish same stuff is a different way.
The way he markets his content.
The way he do branding of himself.
... many more..

People rank one site and thinks everyone as bullshit. common , Google is not an idiot who hired him as advisor.

Don't you think there are tons of seo guides in the internet ? how many SEOs became millionaires ?

If you think Neil will come and give you some secret Google patent , then leave this fiels asap.

Why people know him not you ?

The problem is people want some guru and when they fail, they want to blame the guru.

Intelligent people listens to everyone and accepts only which they want.

Try to take positive things.

Finally , I take Neil Advice on SEO ? NO .
Why I Follow Him?
Above mention points
--------

His Tuts,
Good For Newbies? - Yay , definitely
Good For Professionals ? Nay.

Since 2017 Im doing exactly the opposite what he's teaching or saying. At the same time, on two of my sites, Im doing 101% what he tells to do. Guess what? Im doing waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better betting against Patel's know-how. You can argue that my main niche (adult content) may look like a total mess for Google but anyway. Some of my best rankings are pure BH and no G algo changes seems to shake the boat!

Only Hummingbird put some dents but it was really minor dents and very quick I was able to fix the issues. Removing some excessive H2 and H3 paid off.

I would love your input. Do you trust Patel's guidance? Also, pretty important to highlight that one of my money sites focus a classic rock band; not escorts or cam girls and Im doing fine playing those good old BH techniques.

Again, what's your thoughts about his work?

BH things still works now and in the future, even for google is hard to control the amount of websites world wide, SEO guru's like Neil are into this game to sell, so his strategy is simple, make noobies to think that google is kinda of eye who see everthing and you need to do all like Neil say to can rank, yeah couple of kilo's of shit on every word, but still with his SEO 2k19 skill's he sell his shit, so is not about Neil, it's about ppl, cause ppl are lazy and don't read, they don't do research and test's.

So, I trust in Neil's books?
NO, I don't
I do my own research, my own test's, my own mistakes!
I buy my own shit and in the end I clean it and grab the gold from it!

When I first started learning about SEO, besides BHW, I did came across Neil guides quite often (you really can't avoid them as newbie - they are everywhere).
I did study all of them, but as soon as I started doing practical work, testing live etc. I realized that his guides are quite dull and have one end goal - to sell you something (WOW SHOCK)

Only Backlinko and Franklin Hatchett are the people i listen to.All others are some way crap and try to sell something.

Hmm. I respect your view. For me this will never be the case tho, I do not need personal branding because I do not want to attract dreamers or want to build a brand on my persona. Products and services I sell are good and that is why I get more business. The way I do my business/brands I do not need a sportscar in the background or need to mention how much money I made while I slept. Maybe we work in different fields and with different approaches.

patel mainstreamed SEO for better or for worse
but he has plans to compete with moz and it will be interesting to see if he succeeds
however he isnt as inherently believable as rand fishkin is/was, bc patel comes off as slimey. maybe not tai lopez level slimey, but still very salesy which for many is a turnoff

Franklin is always promoting his courses either on dropshipping or affiliate market. I have not seen him NOT pitching his stuff or clickfunnels.

Sportcars, big houses and bragging how much I make is not how I sell the products. I don't like that Guru approach like the most of us here. My stuff is just straight forward with what people will get and I mention several times that it isn't a quick rich scheme. My audience aren't starters but people who are already rolling and just want to improve their game, so I'm not selling dreams but practical stuff. I'm not interested in learning someone from scratch how it works so this is my approach.

Personal branding isn't also for me but I see for some people like Neil it works.

I'm not revealing my best blackhat methods or loopholes :D

But he is quite rich.. he worked for Google and other big companies.. you guys need to put that into consideration before calling him fake or anything..

Which just comes back to the original point, coaching and courses are just table scraps, and the meaningful information usually comes from digging deep.

There is a lot to learn by looking at the methods these gurus use in their own promotions, but anyone skilled enough to do such an examination is likely already past the point of gaining any value from the paid coaching.
