Do you guys trust Neil Patel?

He used to produce a better content imho. Now for awhile already it just seems purely attempts to keep content coming. He built his name and doesn't want to grow in this field anymore.

Just like i said, his blog ranks for many tough keywords. Do you think that's a coincidence?

As I said earlier I never did SEO and will never touch it, but I wonder if I had such good SEO skills, why would I waste it on making an academy for beginners instead of building brands that I can get sales with my SEO skills? How do you know he didn't hire the best agency to get his SEO results? Maybe I am looking at this from a wrong perspective, but for me, that makes no sense. It is kind of the same reason why "we" mock our teachers in College or University. Most - not all - of them were not good enough in the private market, so they became teachers.

Listened to him for a while. He was entertaining on long drives. But it didn't take more than 5 or 6 videos to realize he was just marketing the same SEO basics over and over.

His content is not very informative but he is incredibly sucessful at marketing himself to newbies and clients that know nothing. He gives very little information but he is able to deliver it in a way that impresses those that know less into thinking he is an SEO God. That's marketing!!

i really don't understand why you guys bashing him since he is richer and far more success than us here
That's does not matter. Some "Gurus" are bullshitting just to sell courses. Are they rich? Yes. Are they Smart? Yes. Does what they said help you? well a little bit. I read his blog and Brian Dean as well. What they said is not wrong but you can find it anywhere on the internet. The key is you have to test it on your own and do not trust them too much. At the moment I'm terrified of the word "Gurus".

Great marketing people know SEO is just part of many ways to drive traffic.

He's not marketing his blog or service exclusively just using SEO.

He has his reason not to build brand on SEO for advance people. But i guess you have already know that he has many brands outside SEO right?

He plays far bigger game than most of us. So i think we should reach his level first to understand his game.

If you are doubting brian dean, then you have problem with your SEO.

Brian really knows his stuff well.

Just like i said, he is doing seo differently than most of us blackhater here.

You should not reflect your own situation on others in this forum. As someone who has many brands myself (not in SEO) I think I understand the game that those people (teaching gurus) play, really well. Like myself, those people do not show you what they really do. Why would they? If you think a "web/seo agency" is a long term game plan without making a public fool of yourself, think again :D. I meet a few people from BHW (that I made connections with when I started out in IM) that are really successful and you do not see them trying to pose in public or become a guru persona.

That's why i use "most of us" NOT "all of us". Because most of BHW member is just beginner/newbie. Neil's market :)

I don't trust all what gurus said but when Brian talk, i listen.

Neil knows about SEO. He is just doing SEO differently than most of us here.

He doesn't know shit about SEO. It's well known through the industry that he just steals content.

Steal contents? That's if you copy paste exact content. But if you rewrite or upgrade it, not anymore.

Do you think you can find "new content" or "new technique" or "new trick" on internet?

You can find ANYTHING on internet nowadays. it's just reword, rewrite, twisted or upgrade it.

There's a big difference between being good at your trade and being good at selling the basics of your trade to new people.

I'm still having a tough time picking him or Brian Dean.

They seem to talk about the same things but I like Brian's focus on ACTIONABILITY instead.

Neil has a good grasp of the BIG PICTURE and strategic SEO activities though

I've found that there are people who are rehashing / rewriting the same old stuff and are good at peddling this as great seo. They have huge followings and offer very little except the bare basics to newbies.

There are also people who invest time, effort and money to perform case studies etc, who are doing different methods and don't feel the need to brag about it, instead share in tight knit circles, to avoid saturation.
