@tux and @Katte

i have a huge problem with my reach (130k account) and get about 3000k reach. Its incredible...i did f/uf for a long time and totally spoiled my account with that.
Ive built my account with giveaways, and did a big loop giveaway recently when my engagement went down.
Ive earned about 30k followers and had a reach of 13k on posts or more...about 6-10k likes. After the giveaway ended it stayed like this for a few days.
Now its back at 3000 reach and incredible 500 likes haha. I'm getting super frustrated.
I founded an own dm engagement group now with big accounts in my niche, they are liking and commenting but still it doesn't help.
Also did Fuelgram for a while..doesnt help.

I really don't know what to do. Did you guys hear about putting instagram on a new phone and the ban is gone? I don't believe it works, as i guess its connected to your Instagram ID.

Maybe I should just buy a hand build account with 100k and start all over again. (problematic though as I am an "influencer", so personal blogger and fashion stuff.)
What do you guys think?
Have you tried live stories? Users get a notofication when you start a live story. The video should also be on top of their feed for 24 hours (low competitiveness, people don't use live stories despite its potential).

- How to filter active users in the past xx months -

What is needed:
Excel

**Make sure you have a backup copy before continuing in case you mess up at some point and the data is all screwed up.**

Step 1:
The first thing you do after you have saved your 'FullExport' file from Instagram Manager software in step 4 is to open it up in Excel and save a new copy in .xlsx format.
With the file opened as .xlsx you will noticed the text are all bunched up. We will format it so we can see the hidden text.
Highlight the very top row where you see the alphabets and hover your mouse in between any column letters and double click.

.

For those like me who are struggling with the step 1 I made this video to show you how to transform all the bunch text into columns and so on :

thanks @tux helping me a lot!
@Katte no totally forgot about that...will try now!
Have you tried the method described in this thread?

I strongly believe there's no permanent flag on any f/u account.
Imagine, it would cost Instagram money to store that kind of information for all 700 million users worldwide. In my opinion is just a "killer hack" they've done with algorithmic feed (instead of chronological). F/u accounts usually scrap from big accounts which in followers' algorithmic feed will appear on the top, giving f/u accounts low exposure. It's just a smart algo, no need to store data to throttle f/u accounts.

The question is, how to get to the top of our followers feeds?

I haven't figured that out yet. I've just recovered from a shadowban and I will be testing solutions incl. described here interaction with my followers.

It's just an algo. Permanent storage of flagged account IDs is just not rentable at such a big scale.

let me tell you we don't know anything about what instagram stores but they do store guid, android id, imei and 2 other things along with location and what not. Instagram bans phone number ranges (since april 2017), subnet ranges and a lot of stuff . Those botting with hundreds of accounts know the horrors of recent phone verification and ip bans.

They are grabbing all the data my friend. Its what fb does, why do you think they purchased ig or even stuff like oculus rift ? I'm not sure if you do bot with hundreds of accounts but as far as my extensive testing - F/U HURTS THE ACCOUNT.

this will be my last reply to anyone saying f/u is good, you don' have to take my word for it and just figure out some things yourself . I'll repeat this again - We aren't meant to be popular on Instagram by doing follow/unfollow. Sure they are the features provided by Instagram itself for us to exploit but that's not the way it was meant to be played. Content is supposed to be the king and if someone follows you since your content is good instead of because you followed him then you realise that you are going right.

i think we're talking about two different cases. In my previous post I was referring to personal use (mjjs33 asked about her personal account). So my guesses were based on my own account analysis at small scale. Meaning up to 5 personal / fun accounts created / used over time.

Let me explain you way of thinking:
Currently with the purge that's happening I'm losing followers (5-10 a day). This will probably influence my reach (Instagram would think my content is bad so users are unfollowing me). But those who are unfollowing me are mostly low quality users which currently account for about 20% of my total followers. Once low quality users share in my followers declined significantly and I stop losing them, I expect increase in reach and therefore engagement rate.

On the other hand, of course botting with hundreds of accounts is an extreme case of spammy activity on certain ip/device/whatever. That indeed can be flagged. But first of all the amount of activity would bring Instagram's attention rather than the act of following and unfollowing.

To Separate the NP with the P in Steps 4
At the Instagram Manager program and once the program has loaded all the list. This will take some time if you have 10k+ names.

Click on the Verified tab to sort all the false and true together.
instagram-sorting_-private-non-private.jpg

Export > All Data > CSV
Open the saved file in Excel and highlight the Verified column.
Ctrl F and type 'true' to find the first row with true.
From that row, select all the rows with true and ctrl X.
Open a new sheet and paste. This new sheet will be your P (true) list and the first sheet will be your NP (false) list.
Delete the rest of the column except username column.
Expand the username column so that the names isn't hidden for both sheets.
Save each sheet and label as P and NP with extension .csv
Import the P list into your bot as a blacklist or ignore these users.
Import the NP list into your bot and like 2 or 3 images.

Hope this helps for some that are confused on how to complete this step.
Any idea how to open Instagram Manager on Mac? Doesn't work with wine :( Or maybe there's a nice alternative for Mac that would do the work?

For some reason my account has been disabled from ImRisto's scraper? I paid $49.99 for it...

Quite annoying as I wanted to do this again with updated followers list.

How are you guys mass blocking private accounts with those certain filters?

MP can't do this yet :(

Some questions answered, thanks a lot gonna try this on an account or two :)

I think my account got fucked.

I f/u on my solo (personal) account from 20k to 39k, had around 2-3k likes per photo, now my pics get like 200-500 only, with like 5 comments.

Any advice? I stopped the f/u. What can I do to get my engagement back?

Read the thread and comments. it's been discussed extensively

Thanks for this, it explains so much. I was wondering why my engagement has been so low, i had way more likes back when I had a lot less followers, but back then i had never used a bot and engagement groups. I also turned my account into a business one for the analytics and while I got over 700 likes on a post (thanks to an engagement group), instagram shows that I had a reach of 400 with that post, so they def know. I'm a bit upset that I've apparently ruined ny account, since it's a personal one and it's still really small, but I felt like that was already pretty tough to reach.
I just had a question though, I understand now that the large engagement round groups are bad, but what about the smaller ones that you can join anytime of the day and you just like 10 photos and get 10 likes back? Are those okay? Are you sure that follow/unfollow without a bot does not have the same effect btw? I feel like organically growing an account is so hard these days, no idea how to:(

Thanks a lot for this tutorial @tux

I have just one question, when you have a list of @ IG account, how do you FollowMass the list ? manually or with a bot ? if you use a tool can you give me the name of the software please :)

@tux

Just a question I thought of.

Can you explain more thoroughly on why this strategy would work that well though? I'm trying it out now but it will take some time to remove all ghost followers.

When you make a new post, IG will show it to some people who are on Instagram correct? Meaning if they are ghost and not even using IG, they will never even see it.
In addition, IG only allows you to have certain reach on any given post and will never show it to 100% of your following and their algorithm will always optimize your posts to be shown to prior people who have engaged with your feed (giving their users the best possible experience).

With 3 aspects in play, how does removing a significant amount of your followers (ghost or not engaging with your content) result in better overall engagement on the account?

if ghost followers are active bots, aren't they "online" for Instagram if they're boting all day?
