According to an article written by Roger Montti in the searchenginejournal.com site, some white hats secretly use black hat tricks. Hence, the dichotomy of white hat and black hat makes it false for both.

Also, he mentioned that if people are to consider the SEO definition of Google, then all SEO tactics are defined as Black Hat.

Would you say that White Hat SEO is just a Black Hat in disguise?

I looked on Roger Montti articles in searchengine journal, but i didnt find the article in which he talked about black and white hats

There never was a WH SEO - any links created that are not naturally created without the thought of benefiting a site are all BH.

WH SEO is only SEO that incurs when one site naturally links to another without profiting from it in terms of payment.

This is nothing new at all "some white hats secretly use black hat tricks"

At least some people actually admit to being blackhatters though.

Plus people also forget the different shades of blackhat that some use.

There is nothing called White Hat SEO.

There is nothing called Black Hat SEO.

Just SEO. Manipulating search engine ranking is neither black nor white, they are all just tactics.

I agree with "white hat seo" but what if someone create 100k spam backlinks on your site, what kind of tactic is that if you loose everything that you build for years.

all seo is white hat untill they caught by some one.

This hasn't changed in years.

More importantly, though - it doesn't really matter. Focus on what works and keep doing it. Don't worry about what you call it. If we've learned anything over the last couple of years it should be that "white hat" sites are no safer from getting wiped out overnight than "black hat".

Exactly my point.

I don’t see any differience between:
  • Getting any (PBN, guest post, etc.) backlinks to your website — UNFAIRLY
  • Making 100K spam backlinks to your competitors — UNFAIRLY
Both activites aim to outrank your competition unfairly. No differience.

Sorry, this is ugly TRUTH. Don't fool yourself.

It's a bit of a paradox in my opinion. Using White Hat Link Building as an example, many WH SEO's say to use PR tactics etc to generate links - the thing is, even paying for a PR agency to create an angle to generate links is technically blackhat as you are indirectly paying $$.

The lines are very blurred - IMO the people who complain about grey/black hat tactics are simply the ones losing.

There is nothing such as Blackhat or White Hat.
And who is Google to determine good vs bad?
What they do should also be considered Blackhat.
At least Blackhat marketers compete for rankings and not personal information of innocent people.
