Today I decided to go through all our hashtags on a PC to see if any generated Instagram's "community guidelines" message.

You know, the one you see sometimes when you search for a hashtag on IG:

"Top posts from #hashtag are currently hidden because the community has reported some content that may not meet Instagram's community guidelines."

We actually have a set of 330 tags that we randomize and use for our posts, so I proceeded to go through each one.

I noticed that some, like #entrepreneurmindset generated the message above initially. See screenshot below.

When I then refreshed the page, some Top posts would show, but not all 9 that you see in the standard 3x3 grid on the PC. See the next screenshot below.

No matter how many times I would refresh again, the same number of Top Posts above would show up. In the example of #entrepreneurmindset, the total top posts was always 5. However, the community guidelines message would never appear again.

I saw this pattern over and over with different hashtags in the set. Mind you, this pattern was only visible on the PC, since the mobile results are different.

Out of the 330 tags, 9 initially caused the community guidelines message to show up. There were also around 70 tags that would also show less than 9 posts in the Top section. This had nothing to do with the popularity of the tags.

My first question is:
  • Why did IG first show the community guidelines message for certain tags, but then <9 Top posts when the page was refreshed?
My second question is:
  • Why do some tags show less than 9 top posts in the results?
Could it be that the tags that show less than 9 posts in the Top section are being "punished" somehow by Instagram at that specific moment in time?

Thoughts?

Anyone else has any opinions regarding this one? I'm surprised no one has interpreted this info or come up with a theory about it.

Hey fxmanaged,
I noticed that aswell after I was searching for the reason why I was got shadowbanned.

even some selfcreated hashtags had this weird problem (used for about 10 Times).

If there is something that I discover I’ll let you know
