Matt Cutts in new Webmaster Video

I love new updates, all the authority sites get more and more traffic after every single update)

He still doesn't get it. Does he ? We are not looking to flow Page Rank. We are after rankings.

Whenever I see this guy's videos, I always feel like he has said the exact same thing in all his videos. Don't know if this is just me or anybody else noticed.

Your correct, but there a few interesting things he said in regards to panda and then with the exploration of going upstream in linking tears. It seems, the best way to be safe is to never link directly to your money site and always send generated links through a 301 redirect, so you can always turn of the positive/negative juice at any time.

That's the safest way you can imagine.

More propaganda.

They really need to focus on having ONE domain per query. Having hundreds of ebay, zillow or whatever Fortune 500 websites in the results, is a bit much.

I agree with this and hopefully the changes cutts talked about in that video regarding this are addressed.

"Shark 1", "Shark 2"
"Penguin 1", "Penguin 2"

Scary, I tremble horrified.
:mmm:

Yeah, there is no reason to be scared as long as you know what you are doing or not doing...

Hmm
interesting
hey matt ,are you reading this?,if so
"You are Dumb a$$,why didnt you include stuff about social signals???

Exactly, that's why he said also that they are willing to go deeper and deeper throught the links.

Also, at the 3:12 mark, cutts mentions that google is going to analyze "going upstream" to find spammy links. To me, this sounds like they have found a way to take down clean Tier 1 links backed up by spammy 2nd and 3rd tiers.

We will see what happens, it sounds like google has a full and fun summer for all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bring it bitch!

Only thing I got out of it was probably a devaluation of tiered link building.

I also think it's lame how they always push the "Just focus on building great sites" BS as if all you need was great content and magically people will find your site and "share with friends" lol

It always amazes me that people watch videos by Cutts and think that google somehow is trying to help webmasters. There is a huge conflict of interest here. Google is now a very big, very serious advertising corporation. They have corporate targets they have to meet, and shareholders they are responsible to. Ads are their main source of revenue... basically their entire bottom line. Now please tell me again WTF would they send this clown out to directly instruct people on how to best rank websites and circumnavigate paying ads revenue. Basically taking money directly out of their own pockets. Now google is the biggest and best (well I don't know anymore) search engine out there, and without that they wouldn't have an ads revenue platform at all. So they have to deliver good and relevant search results to their users, but anything and everything Matt says regarding SPAM, rankings, what their new algos do and what they are targeting needs to be taken with a BIG pinch of salt. "Hey webmaster boys and girls, it's Monday's SEO Show with uncle Matty. Come sit on my lap while I tell you how you can directly avoid paying google money."

Paranoid... nah I don't think so. Google is not some evil empire. But its important to never lose sight of the fact that businesses seldom like to sabotage themselves. There's probably some useful info they release from time to time, but taking everything at face value is a little foolish IMO.

I think your missing the big picture here.

At the end of the day Google NEEDS to have quality search results to maintain its position as the number 1 search engine. Being the number 1 search engine = traffic = advertising revenue. Sure google wants our advertising money but they also want to remain as the best search engine offering the best search results.

I still see BH backlinks in the majority of the Top 10 for high-medium competition rankings, nothings changed. Thousands of obvious BH links to these sites.

A lot of these BH sites bring in lots of adsense revenue, and some BH sites are pretty good offer good user experience: WH quality on-site, BH off-site.

All these SEO packages we have here, all the rankings we get off BH links... this video looks more like saving face for all the WHers complaining about BH sites outranking them, which will continue.

p.s. Matt Cutts is just a nerd doing his job. He's intelligent. A lot more productive than most of you. Quit it with all the Matt Cunts stuff, when he mentioned black hat forums you could hear the disdain in his voice. We aren't going to G to get rid of their webspam team. So stop getting emotional and research, learn, and adapt.

definitely. that is why search results gets worse everyday

I think spammy tiered link building will become history after the new update. And logically the new way will be to include quality links in the 2nd and 3rd tiers too, with a good amount of social engagement, and that way SEO will become more and more expensive and you will be able to make profit only with authority sites - sites that Matt and G loves.
