Matt Cutts in new Webmaster Video

I heard that his favorite place to hangout is BHW.

Code:

That's a good link with a good article.

Guys, I also asked people on the white hat forums too, and wanted to see what the black hat guys had to say. How are you guys preparing for the new update or are you guys not preparing and hoping for the best.

At this point, I don't think there is very much that people can do to change an outcome that may or may not happen with this next roll out. Your site is probably within penguin's crosshairs or it isn't. And where those crosshairs are pointed, only google knows.

The whole web economy is a slave of Google and everyone hangs on the lips of G`s highest priest - Matt Cutts.
Sick!

I say F... G. Stop paying for Adwords and stop caring about G.. Free yourself.

Cheers mad fukks :madfawk::madfawk:

Also, at the 3:12 mark, cutts mentions that google is going to analyze "going upstream" to find spammy links. To me, this sounds like they have found a way to take down clean Tier 1 links backed up by spammy 2nd and 3rd tiers.

Bingo!

Yeah, this is the problem that google enjoys with the monopoly they have, but this is a much bigger topic then this thread should probably go down.

Just what I wanted - an 'interesting' summer. I am excited and scared at the same time to see what is headed our way. I'm glad they are toning down the effects of panda but I would prefer a reduction on the effects of penguin because it was much more devastating. Sounds like they are just making it more tough.

It always amazes me that people watch videos by Cutts and think that google somehow is trying to help webmasters. There is a huge conflict of interest here. Google is now a very big, very serious advertising corporation. They have corporate targets they have to meet, and shareholders they are responsible to. Ads are their main source of revenue... basically their entire bottom line. Now please tell me again WTF would they send this clown out to directly instruct people on how to best rank websites and circumnavigate paying ads revenue. Basically taking money directly out of their own pockets. Now google is the biggest and best (well I don't know anymore) search engine out there, and without that they wouldn't have an ads revenue platform at all. So they have to deliver good and relevant search results to their users, but anything and everything Matt says regarding SPAM, rankings, what their new algos do and what they are targeting needs to be taken with a BIG pinch of salt. "Hey webmaster boys and girls, it's Monday's SEO Show with uncle Matty. Come sit on my lap while I tell you how you can directly avoid paying google money."

Paranoid... nah I don't think so. Google is not some evil empire. But its important to never lose sight of the fact that businesses seldom like to sabotage themselves. There's probably some useful info they release from time to time, but taking everything at face value is a little foolish IMO.

Please show us the way.

Most of the vids are propaganda and the sad thing is people listen :P

All the penguin update will do is eliminate the working spam methods at this current time.

People will just find new targets and ways to manipulate just like after penguin 1.0 and we will be back in the same place as now.

It's a never-ending battle.

They always were a very big advertising corporation, this is not something new. And taking this video at face value is not something anyone should do.

Except now they own the web, and products they directly control (youtube/product search/adwords/sponsored etc.) dominate almost the entire SERP screen :)

He still doesn't get it. Does he ? We are not looking to flow Page Rank. We are after rankings.

Whenever I see this guy's videos, I always feel like he has said the exact same thing in all his videos. Don't know if this is just me or anybody else noticed.

1.42... sounds like the end of site wide links to me too

I think the most noteworthy part was when he mentioned going "upstream" to devalue the links of spammers about halfway through the video. That sounds like they're targeting tiered/301'd backlinks.

Why he always depicted with a wide open hands, like some kind a saint?

Wanna know why Matt Cutts still keeps on talking about PR and trying to keep it from getting acquired by BS methods?

Because it's still part of the algo to ranking well in the SERPs.

If he makes it tougher to acquire PR, he can raise the significance PR plays in ranking.
..i personally think it's something his team is playing around with..
