Matt Cutts in new Webmaster Video

Bah, lets be honest, I doubt that the game will drastically change.

If tiered links no longer work, then a lot of whitehat sites will be hit, and it'll probably be strong to just build contextual links, without the spam being blasted at them.

Or it'll just make buying links from other web owners a better strategy.

The question that I want answered isn't, what is going to stop working, I want to know, what will be working in the future! My guess would be social signals, but I dunno, that stuff is easier to blackhat then seo links!

It amazes me when he says G is going after webmasters who display ads with do follow links..wtf
 
Quality content lol. I didn't know all I had to do was put up quality content and all my sites would rank!
 
I always thought that this may happen. This is why I have stopped using 301's for some time now.

I will tell you what Google is always working on..... Finding ways to lower rankings of most websites so people opt to do pay per click and google can make more money from every business rather then just a few. Google is always working on ways to make more money. Get it. Got it.

Me too!!!!!!!!!!

I don't do any link building now either. The only thing I do is add content to my site and interlink the pages that are relevant, kind of what you see on Wikipedia.
 
Matt is just full of shi*t if ya ask me has has never being able to share good data he is always with his vague comments so that the industry get scared ect ect.

I careless of what he says or What Google does. They can make 1000 changes all with the names of zoo animals and that will never affect my business.

The day that your business doesn't relay on 3rd party factors that you got no control off is the day that you will be trully free.

I agree with you that he is vague, but it would not be wise to ignore the individual/organization who sets the goal posts on how to rank a site...

This is a war and you have to study your opposition to defeat them...
 
Alright guys, let me know what you think of this - at the 5:25 mark, cutts explains that google is looking at further signals to try and evaluate authority sites and how to lessen the penalty/burden of panda that might of occurred - and then he clears his throat...

Body signals are very important - clearing one's throat is a sign of anxiety...what could he be anxious about?...

not sure, maybe this means nothing, but i thought i would throw it out there...

Ideally, this would be great. If Matt could eliminate spam then ranking a website would be in some ways more interesting. However, the collateral damage and the way a penalised site seemingly never comes back from a penalty leads to a very unfair system.
 
I don't think Mad Cunts will ever be able to remove the real blackhat sites. GOOGLE SEARCH IS A UNFAIR system according to my experience (as because I am not a big player). IT IS NOT ABOUT CONTENT FOR THEM. YES, I mean it.....

I hate it when I see sites with shitty contents rank over me and I have nothing to do to beat them (or wait, I do have some , but I won't discuss them here).

Some of my clients have struggled ranking even when they have big sites, lots of content and lots of links. We've now started creating microsites targeting specific verticals. Basic 5-10 page sites with a simple template and they rank higher than our sites and our competition, it is truly ridiculous that we have to take these steps to reach a position we rightful should be.

So big brands are getting even stronger in holding the first 10 results and smaller business have no chance of getting there despite quality content or links?
Basically this video doesn't differ from what they've been saying 1 or 2 years ago.

I always find it amusing when Google talks about people having to put clear disclosures under their paid advertisements, as if Google follows that practice themselves. Does Firefox disclose that Google pays them billions per year to make Google the default search engine? Not to mention all the cute tricks they play with their ads to make them blend in with the rest of the 'organic' SERPs. More talking about of their arse. C'est la vie.
