New Tip of the Day!
Today's tip create a related blog on a keyworded url i.e. salonandspadaily.com, I like wordpress personally but its your choice on platform. When putting in new posts make sure to put the citation in the footer similar to a resource box. The information must be exactly the same as the listing as mentioned above. This is more of a long term endeavor but it can make a huge difference in the SERP's and maintaining the #1 position for years to come.

If the other guys are beating you in the listings, just look at what they are doing - often the answer is right there.

It is true that Google Locals will take a little bit longer to update, but in my experience once you are there, you are there for a while. Especially if you keep building on it.

I have had some listings on the front page in less then 15 days, which is the fastest. If it is competitive it will take me 3 to 6 months to get to the number 1 spot.

A lot of things matter with Google Locals that does not matter with SEO and vice/versa. If you are having troubles, just check out the competition. Honestly that is probably the best way to get ranked on the locals, is copying ++++ on your competition.

I've been doing most of these but there are a couple of new techniques for me to try. I have to say that I've definitely been seeing good results with the stuff I have been doing though
 
Hey, some nice tips here, however they don't apply always. There are some websites ranking for keywords that have nothing to to with its and so on. Can provide an example is someone is interested.
 
Yes but in SEO, there are 400 different ways to get to the finish line. Yes there are other things that can effect a local but in my experience with maintaining over 100 places listings these are things that do work. Try out the tips, see if they work and then you can tell me they don't work. Trust me they do...

how do you get videos as citations? i use full g places information (biz name address phone number) on the video, blast the video out thru pixelpipe to 50 sites and i never get one video as a citation.
 
I have had some recent problems with video citations, metacafe still seem to stick or try pinging them once a week. At this point I would just make 5 custom videos and use them in the places page and leave it at that. Still business directories seem to be the most consistent with attaching to places pages.
 
Can someone help me with this issue. I have two google places listings doing well for the area they are placed in. Problem is these are not the high value places that I want to be in. How can I place in more places where I do not live. I can not make up an address as they want to mail me a confirmation letter.
 
Then move it to jr vip, im fine with that...

they use to move these threads but ii have seen a few around now.

i think we have already altered the way google is handling locals
 
does anyone on the forum provide a service to do this? im lazy and looking to outsource.
