Hello,

My website went down some time ago, and I’m currently working on recovering it. I’d appreciate any advice you can offer during this process.

Also, I’ve been hearing people say “SEO is dead.” Is that true?

Thank you,

First, check if it's a hosting or DNS issue. If you have a backup, try restoring it. Tools like Wayback Machine can help recover lost content.

As for SEO it's not true at all. SEO is just evolving. It's less about old tricks and more about quality, intent, and adapting to how people search today.

The essence of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is to improve a website’s visibility in search engine results, with the goal of driving organic (non-paid) traffic. At its core, SEO is about understanding what users are searching for, how search engines interpret content, and how to create and structure content so it can be easily discovered and ranked. SEO will likely never completely disappear, but it will continue to evolve. In the future, SEO may be less about "ranking pages" and more about optimizing presence across different digital ecosystems, ensuring your content is discoverable wherever users are searching — not just on Google.

Okay

There can be many reasons for a ranking drop or a traffic drop.
Yes, SEO is dead for those still relying on old strategies and not adapting to the new ones.

1. Website Recovery: Keep URLs the same if possible, use 301 redirects for any changes, fix broken links, resubmit your sitemap in Google Search Console, and monitor indexing.

2. Is SEO Dead? No—outdated tactics are dead. Modern SEO focuses on quality content, user experience, and trustworthiness.

To restore your site, diagnose the cause of downtime (hosting, domain, hack), restore access, fix technical issues, optimize content, rebuild SEO, and prevent the problem from happening again, and monitor progress with GSC and KeySearch. SEO is not dead.

Well, it's not dead for the websites showing up in the SERP's.

Try to experiment with a single page of your website that was ranking for a low competitive keyword.
Change the page structure. Install schema markup.
Change the content.

Send it through GSC. And watch if the ranking comes back or not.

If it comes back, do the same with every page that was ranking.

SEO is not dead; it’s just evolving. While it's true that SEO for websites is becoming more difficult, especially for informational sites, many users are now doing SEO on social media, where people’s attention is shifting.

Website Recovery Tips:
  • Check hosting & DNS
  • Restore backup
  • Use Search Console
  • Scan for malware
  • Fix broken links & redirects
Is SEO dead?
No. SEO has evolved with AI and local search. It’s still key for traffic—just smarter now.

Hey, sorry to hear your site went down — that’s always a tough spot, but good on you for jumping into recovery mode.

While you’re fixing things:
  • Check if pages are still indexed (site:yourdomain.com)
  • Reconnect Google Search Console & check for crawl issues
  • Prioritize key pages first and fix broken internal links
  • Set up basic monitoring (like UptimeRobot — free & simple)

As for “SEO is dead”? Not even close. It’s just evolving.
Now it’s not just SEO — it’s also AEO (Answer Engine Optimization for AI tools), GEO (location-based SEO for local visibility), and AIO (optimizing for AI-read content and tools like ChatGPT or SGE).

Not at all dead. You just have to be creative with it .

Paid SEO is not dead, what is really dead is the free promotion method. In the three months since the update in March, my website traffic has not recovered, and it has even fluctuated greatly. This has never happened since I started doing SEO.

SEO definitely isn’t dead — it’s just evolving. If your site went down, focus first on fixing technical issues (indexing, crawl errors, etc.), then slowly rebuild trust with quality content and smart internal linking. Stay consistent — Google still rewards effort done right.

My site went down and I’m working on recovery any tips are welcome, and also curious: is SEO really dead or just evolving with new trends and algorithms.

Focus first on getting it back online cleanly, check for issue. As for SEO being “dead”, not at all. It's just evolving. Quality content, user intent, and trust signals still matter a lot.
