How to Maintain a Position on Google's SERP?

Keep you content up to date. Watch videos from SEMrush on YouTube. They give some clues about what they think is important.

One of the main factors though is fresh content, and this includes updating old content. One really high ranking affiliate blog I follow updates all their articles every year. ALL! They will go through and update small bits of info here and there, and then update the last part of the blog title with '2019' or whatever the year is. The URL stays the same, but page title changes. Then of course they put 'last updated...' with a date of current year. But they also put out new articles every couple of weeks and do about 20+ other things to stay high up in the rankings.

It's a large combination of factors and there's no one thing you can do to stay at the top.

It is not easy if there are many posts published, in these cases it would take a team.

Absolutely. To truly do all you can in SEO, it's a full time job. You must automate wherever possible, but there is no automating great content. It takes time to write something good and thorough, and more time to put together graphics, images, charts, diagrams and whatever else might go along with the article. And then more time needed to promote the hell out of that article, engage with users. Yep, it's exhausting and takes a team.

update the content with useful information. keep continuing link building to the target post.

I'm going to:
#1 Replace old images with some new ones while keeping the alt tag.
#2 Edit and add useful text with subheadings like h2-h3.
#3 Correct broken links and add high-quality links.
#4 Get new inbound links.

These are the keys. good luck
