Hello folks, I'm new here... well at least on this account, I think I was a member in 2011 but things changed. anyway I'm now looking for a job after being unemployed for 6 years (only part jobs once in a few months) in which I mostly made money by running a website which was selling virtual goods, making almost $2K each month (it was for few years while on other times I was making freelance working).

Now what I can do is basically full stack development as dscribed:
HTML5 (HTML,CSS, and some JS), PHP and MySQL, WordPress, some Laravel, good knowledge in DNS, Social media, internet technologies, can install virtual servers and accounts. I'm also good with SEO, SEM, SMM and other aspects of digital marketing including advertising with Google, facebook and twitter, and as you provably already got it, some other basic things as graphic design, office apps and other skills related to web development.

Few months ago my website was shutdown and now I'm looking for ways to earn money online again.

So, this is my first post here, I guess I'm just into trying getting myself around and wanted to give a try to find the path faster.

I'd suggest offering your service(s) for free to some members here so you can begin building a portfolio showcasing what you're able to offer. Then, in a couple of months when you're able to qualify for Jr. VIP membership, you can begin to offer your service(s) here on the forum at which point you should've built a reputation and can ask for reviews from those you've rendered your services to.

Start with a Lynda account, go for a trial or buy a cheap shared account to learn the basics. Don't spend too much time on it as you learn more by practice. Buy a domain and set a website up. If broke, setup some web properties and start experimenting ranking those for easy keywords or niches that you have experience or interest in. Don't spread yourself too thin on many things at once, focus and be quick to more if things doesn't work.

    Good luck!

You were a member on here in 2011 or so you think?

    Why was your website shutdown?

Was $2k a month revenue or profit?

Probably revenue, most people who mention their website is earning $x,xxx per month is usually referring to revenue & not profit so it sounds like it's making more than it really is. There's a big difference between a website "making" $2,000 per month and a website "profiting" $2,000 per month.

Yes indeed it's like the old adage; Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity.

I was a member when I started with SEO in 2011 but I don't have the information about this because it's been a while...

My website was selling a product related to some technology which become unavailable on the market so the solution I was offering is no longer valid.
I closed the website when It become harder to build links and get revenue but most of the time it was running good for almost 4 years It was making almost 2K profit each month.
I was working some 4-5 days a week, giving it 3-6 hours each working day... most of the time was doing customer support with email, SEO, some updates and bug fixing and special deals.

Alarm bells ring when people say their site was shut down, I had wondered if it was a C&D or something :)

Glad it was you who chose to close it down.

Yes, It was my call and some digital rights law was also in the background so my decision was really simple.
I even tried to re-build this system with more wide options for other suppliers which still on the market (but this all market is dying slowly) but couldn't finish it because when I was building 30% of the project I was starting to think about how to do it right and it was left.. but right now I'm looking for just make money as fast as you can just to keep up with doing things online.
