1. Does google determine the authority by one page or by the whole website?

Everyone says that vertical Niche is easy to get ranked, what is the reason?

Some people writing an article only need a week and can have hundreds of keywords ranked. while others may take two months, does it have anything to do with authority? Is there a Google patent that tells us what is authority?

2. How do you determine the most relevant?
Google tells us that it will give users the most relevant search results.

Is the most relevant determined by a single page, or by considering the whole site together?

If the relevance is determined by a single page, then shouldn't the content of that page be written in a lot and wide enough to cover the most content.

If the relevance is measured by the entire website, then is it possible to write each article very short? For example, if each article is only 100 words and I publish 100 articles, then the entire site also has 10,000 words of content.

The way I look at it:
1. Post an article on a new blog
2. Post a similar quality article on reddit
See what ranks better. The answer is your article on reddit will almost instantly rank better.
So domain authority/trust plays a big part.

Personal experience: I was ranking #1 for a keyword for ages, then a high authority site in my niche posted a simple article on that topic... they became #1.

yes, so sometimes how do we protect ourselves is a big issue.

Many factors, but generally links are the nº1 hands down on authority.
Content NEVER determines authority.
Also, don't be confused with the difference between reputation and authority
Authority is based solely on links (although many suggest that Google considers text, I've seen many cold tests and all suggest text is useless)
Reputation is based in links + some content that can somehow verified with other sources

What @SirLouen said... I totally agree.
And if you have decent content, some links will come naturally.

Look... When you do your keyword research, you find very weak sites and steal keywords from them so bigger "bullies" do the same. Keep grinding and you'll be just fine.

SEO relevance is how closely a user search relates to the content of your web page - and not just the target keywords. Based on the search input Google looks for intent and relevance having used previous searches for the relevant web pages that have been used by previous searchers to end their search thus satisfying the user/searchers' need for relevance being satisfied.

Thanks, Louen, I have another question.

Google said"When a user enters a query, our machines search the index for matching pages and return the results we believe are the highest quality and most relevant to the user. "

Q1. What is the most relevant for Google, and how to think the most relevant?

Q2. does this relevance only relate to content?

I am confused about the authority and content, does authority influence the quality and content?

for example, sometimes, Amazon will be the No.1 for some products, but the content of that page is poor, I made one page that is better than the Amazon page, but my page can not rank better than Amazon.

Another google words(2014):
At least for now backlink relevance still really helps in terms of making sure that we return the best, most relevant, most topical set of search results

Q3. in this video, he said the backlinks are the source of most relevant. is this true? only consider the backlinks? but on some websites that do not have any backlinks, and only have content can still get traffics.

EAT > Expertize, Authority and Trustworthiness

Sounds all neat and tidy but in reality Google is getting smart at detecting authroity - but it 100% depends on the niche. If it is medically-related then yes, to be able to compete you really need to have some sort of medical background that can be verified via authorative medical sites and you have a profile on their

Bottom line - built trust by as many means as possible; think of a manual review....Google does do manual reviews and if the social media buttons go nowhere and there is no "REAL" human behind the site then the crawler will eventually pick up on this as well

Solution: built out "legit" LinkedIn profiles and link back to them (for example)

^ My two cents...

Old Domains with good link profile and mentions generally consider authority.

Authority is based solely on links (although many suggest that Google considers text, I've seen many cold tests and all suggest text is useless)
Reputation is based in links + some content that can somehow verified with other sources
Do you mind sharing some of the posts of such tests?
Interested to see the process of how they test.

It has everything to do with a domain's authority.
Why do you think people 40x the monthly earnings of an 8-month-old blog? It isn't that much about the earnings, it's all about the authority. You must have seen many earning reports of bloggers where the earnings basically start to double every month.

It isn't that Google finally picked the site. It's just an authority-building phase.

The whole site. An article by an authority on that topic is always much more preferred than a new blog.

You have to go vertical and horizontal. You need to write in-depth articles on topics, write a lot of these articles on a lot of these topics, and do it for a long enough time (8 to 12 months) to build authority.

thanks, could I ask another question?

Q1: Could I build authority only by content? only write articles, do not have any backlinks? does this work for build authority?

I am confused about the authority and traffic, if backlinks are ZERO => Authority is ZERO, but how to explain the traffics to this website.

Q2: for the relevant is about the whole site? does the internal link is the most important factor for this relevant?

Only Google can answer your question, but they will not. Google knows if they provide the information many people will try to find ways of “Gaming the system” to shortcut what Google is trying to do for the “browsing/searcher”.

I suggest you go to https://searchengineland.com/faq-all-about-the-new-google-rankbrain-algorithm-234440 and follow the links to the many useful articles. You may end up realising that knowing what Google is doing is very different from knowing how to do it. I hope it helps you - trying to come up with a practical and successful application of Blogging is so very difficult.

It is domain authority. This metric is given for complete website and not individual article.

Yes, it will take more time, but that's definitely possible. Learn about topical authority and how it works:

Q2: for the relevant is about the whole site? does the internal link is the most important factor for this relevant?
Yes, pretty much.

As you probably already know, Google has manual quality guidelines.

These are people who actually check out websites and see if they comply with what Google determines as "quality".

Then, they feed their findings into their algorithm, and through artificial intelligence, Google profiles pages depending on its authority guidelines.

The saving grace to all of this is that it is initially based on actual human creative content.

This is not all AI.

But even how clunky artificial intelligence technology is at this point in time, there's a lot of wiggle room in terms of how much authority Google will allocate to your website.

So if it's really important to look at the top-ranking sites in your niche and reverse-engineer the hell out of them, that should be your first step.
