Google Update - May 27th 2022 - What I Have Noticed

1. Using keywords from People Also Ask (PAA) in your content?
2. How many PAA keywords do you use for a 1000 word article?
3. Does your final article have too many questions in headings (H2/H3/H4)
4. If you look at your final article, does it look like a FAQ-style article?

My theory is that to combat the rise of PAA and/or AI generated sites, the algo now has some sort of a threshold for the number of PAA keywords you can have, and whoever is hit is somehow exceeding this threshold.

Of course, these are completely unsubstantiated claims, but it would be great if we can rule this out.

Our site has over 500 articles in FAQ style using H2 to replace the <strong> attribute with Yoast FAQ schema question/answers. No drops at all, actually increased. Internal linking is very solid, keywords come from Ahrefs, studying the SERPs, and a litlte creative thinking about what people need to know when searching. Can't say the precise niche, but it has to do with devices with digital displays.

I know that this works but it is a bit risky imo. There is a possibility that yoast implements h2 tags for FAQ because users are asking for this option since 2 years.

If you have replaced the <strong> attribute by using HTML to change it to h2, than there is a high chance that all your Q&A will not convert back from HTML to blocks and you have to go through all your 500 articles and edit them manually.
 
Hello, my site with 2 million monthly traffic for 2 years experienced a decrease of around 75-80%.
My GSC average rank has dropped to 15 > 35-38, it is currently hovering between 30-35.
My site has backlinks from very high quality sites.
Yahoo, msn.com, wikipedia, cnn etc. sites.
I couldn't understand what Google really wanted to do. I had 58k daily hits on my site and I have very high quality backlinks.
Since May 25th, I have been depressed and have no hope that it will improve...

Similarly, my site experienced this as well:

The only glimmer of hope I noticed was the increase in keywords in SEMRush on the 21st.

However, this is not reflected in traffic, nor in Ahrefs. Another glimmer of hope is that I haven't lost any snippets on Ahrefs today (so far). Whether this means anything I couldn't say.

Have a very similar picture for some URL's (some URL's are the same, no change).
Just like here... down, then a recovery... then BOOM, more down. :weep:

We ae in the same situation. From my my part, i will not touch anything till i do not see any good thing...
