any kind of business can be killed by an external agent, if you are afraid of start something because of that, you'll really struggle trying to find something 100% safe and risk-free

I think it means, if you follow Google best practice ie. don't flout/break the rules, maintain rigour in your Blog then you'll be okay. Best of luck to you

I was trying to make a joke (probably failed), but there is some truth to this because I've seen many white hat sites ruined by google lately, so I'm not totally off
The thing is, if you focus exclusively on white hat you might never rank because - you probably don't know this - but white hat means that you won't build or buy a single backlink and I don't see how you can rank long term without backlinks, so 100% white hat is not an option IMO....
But anyway, google ruins whoever they want if this means extra money for them. Like all for profit companies they're only chasing profits too, so if there are profits to be made by taking all of the white sites off their SERPs they'll do it in a heartbeat... and you can't even blame them, it's their search engine they can do with it whatever they want. I've never contested this side of things, what I don't like about google are other things that are beyond the scope of this post, so I'll leave it at that

If you're following white hat practices and delivering genuine value through high-quality content, you're in a good spot. But remember, Google's algorithms evolve, so adaptability and diversification are key. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Good luck!

They are killing small blogs. If you have an old authority blog, it will be safe.

It is hard to run a blog for long time because of google updates. If you survive one update, next update kills it all.

Google doesn't care that much about content quality, unless there's a shitload of keyword stuffing or something really bad like that.
Btw, the main on-page SEO practices will be seen as overoptimization by Google.
A new blog will survive if you target an underserved niche, but for how long, that depends on competition. For higher comp niches you need more authority.

Predicting a site will get killed can be a strategy. Get a process for quicking spinning up sites, grow them with blackhat, they get clapped after few months to a year, no problem. No need to renew domain. Just transfer any content onto a new site, if it was valuable. You cant learn be being fearful of the clap and not testing what you can get away with. Ideally you have 1 year which is the domain expiry time. I would rather make 15 risky sites in a year and spam them over making 1 and nursing it like a baby with whitehat and wasting a year of my life.
