Does blogging still a good idea in 2017?

People don't really care read websites anymore, it's ADD facebook/instagram, memes, quick videos and news feed, they get a quick fix and it satisfies them enough. On the other hand, if you are talented, you know your life calling, you are passionate about it, and you can communicate it really well, of course then it will work.

I am just started blogging and I think it's a good idea.
I think that two months is not enough for success.

Great post! This is so simple but it rings the bell. I spent few hours today compiling quite long article,adding external excerpts and debating. Now when I think about it, sure it looks cool, but I have more on my mind, so as you mentioned, it will disappear, no matter how good post is. Actually I ordered services and will start blog myself in day or few.

In context to your reply I ask: what starter terms would you throw into the search box if you're unsure what to search for? OP's issue is he doesn't understand what the metrics are that he should be using as a gauge for success or not. So I ask because you might be able to give him a jumping off point to begin building his analytical arsenal.

Audience size is important but I feel as though you're asking the wrong question. Instead of asking which niche will earn me money the fastest, you might consider asking about the blogging process in itself. That might clue you in as to what could potentially work for your niche.

It's like going to a car dealership with no money asking "which car looks the best" instead of saying "which mode of travel will get me to work so I can then buy whichever car I want".

DA means Domain Authority.

Higher DA means the site is credible. Apartment Therapy is a credible home doecor website. As example.
I've written for 60DA sites with high backlinks and very importantly, social shares.
6,000 social share to a single article for example. The topics tend to be evergreen.
But as many pointed out, you need to provide value. I wrote one that catalog auction houses and bidding strategies as an example. Or how to pick the right temperature control safe for your art. Those articles have real research and expertise. The high DA sites pay for that. So blogging requires you give value.
If something is quoted in Wikipedia. It will have more value than 200 backlinks. Google knows this and can spider out real content versus fluff re-writes/copy.
 
Blogging is by far the ever green way of making money online. You just need to be true with yourself and then google when it comes to ranking.

There are people who churn out articles daily to build up sites to try to earn money from Adsense, banners etc yet a lot of these are rubbish.

Others are dedicated, passionate writers who create wonderful blogs that are good to read either for the knowledge and/or the writing style. These types of blogs tend not to be written stuffed full of keywords etc.
 
I think Blogging is the evergreen concept in the 21st century. It won't be dead.
Because people love to read. They need help online.

Undoubtedly, you can start with some trending topics or new things.
Don't stick to a saturated niche.
It may hurt you, I quite sure. That doesn't make sense.

Blogging is still good and viable as long as you own the niche/space. Once you become an authority figure in your space, it eclipses anything Instagram has to offer. Some of the top bloggers in a niche I am in have only 800-2,000 followers but they have more conversions than any instagram accounts with 100K followers. Other bloggers follow bloggers. Brands and their executives follow bloggers. Brands often like to get featured in article that has more "sticky-ness" in terms of "evergreen" SEO. A good blog article can live on forever (especially if it is indexed in wikipedia). An instagram post has a useful life of 3 days.

But it takes a lot of work. I mean lots of work. That is why I rather contribute to a large blog. This is fastest way to build your personal brand - writing for large blogs or high DA sites like Forbes, Huffington Post. Once you start writing for large sites, you will get a lot of monetization possibilities.
 
Blogging is always a good idea, you just need to be interested and passionate about the subject matter, there are also other perks besides money to having a good blog, for instannce, i get press passes to a number of events plus games and other items to review .

if your starting a blog just make sure its something that interests you, otherwise all that writing is going to be a pain pretty soon ..

now go blog :)

yes i believe that it is the best way to make money online as i am earning in six figures. But there is no doubt that you need to put in a lot of efforts ion the beginning
 
Doesnt matter if you blog, sell products or something else. You need traffic, and lots of it. Also make sure your visitors are relevant for your site. But 2 months is not enough time to determine that this has failed. Simply that you need more traffic, and better content.
 
I love blogging its all about building it up and trying new things for me, of course it works in 2017, I blog about what I love so it doesn't feel like work, the rest, the SEO etc you need to learn on here by reading the forums.
 
I don;t think it'll last forever but it's here for the moment so it's best to take advantage of it. For it to be successful, I think it's all about backlinks and SEO. I already have an established site, but I'm doing an experiment where I started a brand new blog and plan to do nothing but guest posts, roundups, etc to gain links. Hopefully by the time I launch in the new year I'll start off with getting substantial traffic to it and not struggling early on.

Of course if that doesn't work then it's dead and isn't a good idea for anyone ;)
