I feel personally the Ahrefs & KWFinder both provide the best result in the most of the time.

Aherfs are good but you can not properly rely on them. By the way google keyword planner is the best you can opt!

For Search volume? None.
These tools can never give you realistic traffic estimations. They can only estimate the traffic for the main kwd and for the limited amount of longtails that they have access to.
One keyword on ahrefs was estimated to have 0-10 monthly search volume. I wrote an article on it and slowly started to climb up the serp's until I got to the first spot.
Now, that keyword brings around 150-200 visits a month and is still growing. The amount of long tails that I rank for is unreal. It can never be estimated properly by these tools.
Take those estimates as a good starting point. You know the approximate number of monthly searches for the main keyword but you got to think about how broad the topic is. For this, use common sense and you can then make a good guess about the final search volume for the article.
And that's what it is, a guess. You'll know the final number only when you start ranking for it.

KW research is much more than just listing some keywords like KWP does. This is why KWP is good for quick lookups but is purely useless from a pro research standpoint.
There is no one single tool. The keyword research process implies multiple tools necessarily.
Just for lookups I like KWfinder, but most tools like Wordtracker, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Keywordtool, and even KWP will do the trick.
If you are looking for ideas, you need a bulk checker with fast autocomplete suggestions. A tool like keyword shitter will massively help you and then you can browse fast and furious with Keywords Everywhere chrome extension to nail down a couple of interesting keywords for your purposes.
Also you could just research by copying your competition. This can be done with any tool that also contains keyword database, like Semrush (the best here), Ahrefs or KWfinder (through Linkminer) (or even Serp Stat)

But you can do all just with Ahrefs and still get similar results. So definitely Ahrefs as the AIO tool is the best.

Use multiple planners. You can check out Wordtracker, it isn't that precise but it's free and you can compare the results.
