Hello, everyone!
I'm giving you my feedback on AlexHost.
I took a dedicated server for more than 200€ for two reasons.
The first is that I was advised to do so and that I was able to test a configuration by myself, it works perfectly (my configuration was the same for each of my tests).
The second reason is that I thought they were very responsive to the responses here. (This is not the case)
At the moment, I've been busy for 8 days trying to get the dedicated server to work properly and I can't get it to work. It's far from being the first one I've taken and I'm totally blocked. I've reached the end of my knowledge and I've called two pros who came to the same conclusion as I. (They have the same problems as I do and as a bonus I've spent money for nothing thinking that it was my knowledge that wasn't good enough)
No way to configure the server...
Regarding the support, let's be honest, it is not available 7/24 and the answers are contradictory.
If I hadn't insisted on multiple times, I would have had to be satisfied with banal answers.
The first time I explain, I am told "everything is working properly" ...
When I insist and show them with screenshots, the answer changes. I was then told "We will look at it".
Then I wait and they tell me "We have changed it, please try again".
I continue to be persistent and I find additional problems that I did not have before their "manipulation". For example, it is impossible to install an OS. (While just before I managed to do it. Again I call the support and they tell me "No, everything is fine" I continue to show them screens and again, the support intervenes. Always with a long delay between each action. (Absolutely not 24/7)
I explain to them that there is a bandwidth problem, they give me a speed test which shows that it is not the case and as a bonus they tell me "Dedicated servers have dedicated ports" <=== Seriously?
When I run a speedtest myself, I get totally different results that are much more logical and consistent with the problems I have. If I had been the only one to attempt an installation I wouldn't have complained and I would have assumed it but this is not the case. I just lost 1 full week of relentlessness on a server that clearly has a problem on the provider side and not the client side.
On top of that, the refund policy really leaves something to be desired. I really gave them money for nothing...
I'm not giving up, I'll go to another host if I don't find a solution within two days.
Maybe your service is stable and efficient when everything is configured correctly on the "host" side but this is not the case.
This is not my first server and this is not my first installation.
I had to temporarily take another host to put my website and strangely no problem. Usual installation in a few hours. So I don't know what it is for other people who would have used their service, but I really have the impression to have been put on a defective machine and that the support is not at all able to manage customers and pushes more the side "profit" by making purposely to delay things.
I hope that no one will have the same problem as me because it's enough to make you pull your hair out.
If anyone has a contact who has already done installations on this host, I would love to have the contact to try one last time with someone who is used to this host.
I'm still open to the fact that maybe the problem comes from my side but I'm at the end of my rope especially with the answers from the support where I have to wait tens of hours between each answer. And especially when I still take the time to explain to them I really have the impression that they do not read what I explain to them and immediately put the blame on me, that is the customer.
Kind regards.
Have a nice evening or day.
ps: sorry if I make mistakes but English is not my first language.
