Expired Domain Redirect 301 Worth it ?

Hello hope you're all doing well. I have a question about an expired domain.

I’ve found a good domain with quality backlinks, indexed page, and over 500 keywords ranking. However, this domain is currently redirected (301) to another domain in the same niche.

Should I buy it?
I think a 301 redirect is not as relevant as metrics like TF, CF, DA... except if the redirect points to a spammy site.

Not only is it not as relevant, it's pretty much irrelevant.

If the domain has clean metrics (TF, CF, DA) and no spammy history, you should consider it. Check the backlink profile and use Wayback Machine to ensure the 301 redirect was not to a low quality site. If everything looks good and it fits your niche, go for it!

I have another question for example if I acquire an expired domain focused on various online banks available in the UK and recreate the same pages with my own content while using 301 redirects, is it possible to expand my niche?
i want to turn this NDD into a broader platform covering related topics like IT, news, etc. as long as it remains within coherent and connected themes, avoiding unrelated areas like music, art, or sports. Do you think this would be a good idea?

I really wouldn't stray way too far from your niche. Google doesn't like multiniche sites, they are harder to rank and they are an overall mess, plus you put all your eggs into the same basket with all the random updates these days. Focus on one niche, then make another website covering different niche.

Buying a domain that has been 301 redirected is very risky, because most of the power of the expired domain name has been transferred to the new domain.
