Honestly, I would advise just starting on a new website and doing something entirely different, while at the same time maintaining the affected site because who knows it may return. What's your plan of action?
I've got a really bad feeling about this latest update.
I'm going to improve the UX of the website and try some alternative advertising methods.
I'm not sure if I should bother continue link building. Tough decisions ahead.
If we're already hit in the first place, it means our strategy has failed or Google isn't factoring whatever we've done as "good".
So might as well start an entirely new project but with a different strategy - whether is it more backlinks (blackhat like PBN or not), or more informative content, or a different onpage/offpage SEO strategy such as interlinking, and so on. It also requires us to review whatever we've done in the past: are we using cookiecutting templates for titles? Are we abiding EAT practises, and so on. From there, a different strategy and approach. And of course, lots of reading... What I've observed so far is members here have been sharing that their sites that uses lots of PBN backlinks have survived, if not, thriving even more than before. So that may be on the table for the next site.
You can try paid ads but I wouldn't advise for now as most webmasters who are affected are going to desperately opt for paid ads in droves. And not to mention, coincidentally, Google have been offering Adwords coupons and promos.
To be honest with you, it is a very dire and uncertain period... Because of the mass inflation going on and people saving up than spending, our returns will definitely be hampered along with this Google core hit + throttling. And with Google's unconfirmed updates going on now, we can't assess the whole situation fully.
But one thing for sure is we have to focus and do other projects rather than sitting and praying it will return... Better not waste the days hoping but taking action.
