Its not used that much in europe, atleast facebook. I created a account a few days ago and was surprised about the new design.

Facebooks data privacy is really bad and they just dont have many more chances.

These data privacy acts are made for facebook and google. And now its becoming harder to make profit from peoples interests, thoughts and opinions.

Same with WhatsApp. Most ppl i know here arent using it. We use Telegram.

Oh God... imagine the implications it will have on every advertisers. We all have to go back to our campaigns and re-edit the geolocation targeting and what not.

It actually puts Facebook/Meta at a huge disadvantage.

The iOS and upcoming Android updates of no-tracking permission already affected their advertising platform badly. If this Europe withdrawal happens, I guess that will start FB/Meta's downward spiral

Guess Mark is doing this ultimatum gamble as a last resort... Like how Google and Facebook back then gambled with the Australian government regarding paying publishers and local news outlets for info on search results.

Zuck is making the same mistake as the UK did. They thought they were equal nations in their Negotiations.

But the reality is The EU is not a Nation. but a club of 27 Nations with its own rules and regulations.

So depending on which rules you choose to obey. that gives you permissions to do busimess in the EU.

Zuck thinks he is bigger than any country. Which is probably correct. But the EU is just a rulebook and once a Rule is brought into law. Its virtully impossible to remove it.

So his threats mean nothing. Even if he can threaten some countries into supporting him. Its too late to make any difference. Data Protection is here to stay and once other countries see Meta Google Twitter ETC, they too will insist on Data Protection. until there is only the US left. Even then, they too will fall into line with the rest of the world.

But his main business model is the DATA, not facebook or instagram or whatever. If he can't process all the data, he can't work and make money, so if he kept operating on the land where he can't gather data, he would technically be losing money probably. So withdrawing from there would be a good decision very likely.
