Check the following free tools for metrics:Is there any way to measure the spam score of Expired Domain, as IDK whether it's possible or not? Surely, I can check their backlink profile manually but if there is a tool (No Matter it's premium or free) then maybe it will be easier. Thanks!
I have shortlisted some expired domains. Some domains have a decent number of backlinks. Even some sites still have some visitors. My ultimate goal is to buy them and redirect ( 301 permanent redirects ) those domains to my main sites. Now, My question is: how can I know that Google did not penalize those domains in the past?
Folks, Your opinion/suggestion would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
Check if the domain is still indexed on Google by using site:domian.com
Check wayback history, check the backlinks and overall make sure it is relevant before redirecting.

@Ed Roy , the problem is that you can't check manual actions of Google, the only way is to register the domain and set up GSC. I had few cases like this, sad...
How will i check this?If you are buying expired EMDs then check if the domain was active before 2012 and got inactive after 2012 - at that time Google lunched an EMD penalty - the domain might got penalized if u see after 2012 it was not live/inactive/for sale
