The exact reason why i never bothered to play around Amazon affiliate sites. They (Amazon) have too much of monopoly in this market, they know even if they lowered commission to 0.1% people will still promote their products they will still have sales regardless.

Google adsense on the other hand contrary to Amazon has some of the best CPM and PPC in the market, they simply acknowledge that there are competitors better than them hence they dont bother to play around permanently decreasing commission rates which would probably piss of authors and make them switch to other platforms.
