Interesting read, thanks for the share!

However, I have a question regarding checking for social shares on UbberSuggest. As @splishsplash mentioned in his AMA, social media "have almost no role in ranking, <5% influence on ranking."

Could you share your opinion on this and what is the reason you are checking social media shares? Hope this doesn't sound offensive :p Just trying to see your view on social media shares.

Sure, no problem. :)

I just look at that number on UberSuggest and use it as a reference for how that website is doing on social media. It's a good reference because if a link has 5k social shares, only 30 backlinks, and not a very powerful domain: it's safe to say that the social media activity has an impact on that ranking.

I would say that SplishSplash has a mild point in terms of how much social media isn't a factor, but I won't say that it's not a factor in ranking because it definitely is and can be used as such.

Due to the ever-changing nature in the field of SEO, having new guides stickied in this section is important.

Congratulations on having your thread stickied, @PHPInjected. :)

Thanks my friend. Glad I could help the forum out!

This is really priceless for me. I must say thanks so much for one of the best laid out explanations I have ever seen. I stopped at Grammarly and added it before I finished reading the rest, and it's so funny that as I write this post it is working already. Again thanks so much.

RankerX - Scrapebox - Ahrefs and seoMoz are a must for me. Hardly took 30 minutes to learn very easy for new beginners. Keep up your good work!

You’re both very welcome guys.

Don’t forget to learn something new every day about SEO. The more you learn, the more valuable you are to yourself. ✅✅✅

I do have Scrapebox and really love Ahrefs and had RankerX (and can get again), but looking at the price altogether is a pill hard to swallow for a newbie. With an email responder, I'm at least $200 a month. I know it takes money to make money, but I've been going over this in my head ever since reading this post for the last couple of days. I know if I do make the jump, everybody in the house will have to leave me alone for at least a month (retired).

Hey man, don't break the bank with an investment like that. Save up some profits and work up to it. Ahrefs is a good thing to have at $99/month. Just for it, I take on 1 or 2 extra content writing jobs per month to cover the cost.

It takes money to make money but there's no need to buy tools unless you have ~2-3 months to see the ROI.

Glad I could help!

Its really very awesome post...Thank you for share...

I'm glad I could help my friend.

Thanks for sharing, it's helpful.

That was my intention. Happy rankings!

I do thank all for the advice I've gotten on this topic and want to thank everyone for their input. I was just thinking about how much money I needed to cover my software needs and use that as my first target goal for the month, so thanks PHPInjected for the confirmation.

A MASSIVE thank you for your time and effort. This is an excellent guide. Not a noob to all this, but you have outlined stuff and made it so much easier.

I do have a question though; Is it possible to rank these days WITHOUT all the "social shares" crap? What I mean is, with JUST good solid backlinks?

Thank you in advance for an answer.

Oh absolutely. You can rank without social signals easily. I prefer to cover all bases, so I include that within my SEO. However, it's not a 100% necessity.

Happy Rankings!
