My aim with this thread is to analyse the responses I get both here and in PM’s and then write follow up posts addressing what seem to be the main focus of the questions. Well that is the plan, at least until I get bored or nobody is listening!

So far that focus has been how do we write engaging content and make more money as an influencer.

The answer to both is the same: add value by delivering more of what people want and you can start doing that working with small brands.

To increase your engagement levels you need to deliver more of what your followers want.
I touched on this yesterday, the first place to look for inspiration is reddit, because pretty much everything online starts on reddit. So join the sub-reddits relevant to your niche, as well as immersing yourself in all niche related publications, both on and offline. Secondly analyse your own and competitors posts, see which get the most traction and create better variations.

To increase your revenue you need to deliver more of what brands want.

Brands don’t just want you to have a high engagement level, they won’t be interested in you if you don’t. They also want to be part of immersive content that resonates with your audience. They don’t just want to be an ad.

Sure sell a basic shoutout, but view it as a loss leader, you should add value and upsell!

If you don’t know what a value added upsell is, go to McDonalds. “Would you like to go large?” You’ve just been value added upsold.

So if you are really at the top of your game you can combine the two by creating engaging content to your audience that is immersive content for brands.

Let me give you a hypothetical example:

You have an influencer account in the food and drink niche.

I own the Gringo Monkey Tequila brand and contact you about a shoutout.

You offer me an upsell…

“How about I make a video/story showing how I make a tequila sunrise cocktail using GM tequila, provide the recipe and say how great it tastes because I used GM tequila.” – If you document having fun with your friends and a party while doing it, that’s even better content!

Even if the brand does not contact you first, you can create that because it is great unique content for your audience and will improve your engagement levels, then contact the brand yourself and show them! Do you reckon they will buy from you now?

If you are not prepared to put in the effort, push and add value, both to your audience and brands, then accept you are not going to be financially successful as an influencer. It is really that simple.

Great advice. At what followers figure do you think it's time to start monetizing?

Hope you all had a good weekend. In my case i work with broad niches, thwt tends to be 25,000 followers + but your ability to make money will be determined more by your engagement levelnthe follower numbers.

I think good genetics are transferrable across all niches

There are 2 types of influencers, those that promote themselves, in which which case yes you are correct. But there are also those who promote a collection of things, for example memes. So if you don't fancy being the focus of attention, you can choose a niche where you do not have to be.

I see the sarcasm wasn’t lost on you. I am aware, mate.

Good thread, thank you.

How would you go about taking a personal IG of a girl that posts photos of herself and making it more appealing to advertisers?

Nice advice, I'm in the Instagram trying to make some money with CPA so that was very helpful :)
Just have a question, what do you think about automation? Following, liking, commenting to get attention from people in your niche? It's something we can use instead of buying followers and then keep using to keep growing?

Thank you very much for the advice I still don`t try to monetize my instagram but it's something I plan to do. I hope to be lucky and get some money as an influencer:D

Cool point about record companies buying their own records to hit #1. This has to be how certain book publishers/authors consistently hit #1 on NYT's Best Seller's and related lists. I'd definitely need some sponsorship to pull off that technique for social lol...

I'm setting up a new brand. So, using the fake it till you make it idea, what's the ideal engagement (likes n comments) per post for a 10k followers account?

You won't get real engagement with fake followers. The point is just to give you social proof.

To be considered an influencer typically your engagement levels need at least 5%, but on large accounts down to about 3%.

To calculate your engagement level: If the account has 50 000 followers and average post likes are around 500 then 500/50 000*100% = 1% engagement.

As to comments it really is more niche dependent check what the average amount is on your competitors posts.

When you first open an account you have 0 followers. Don't go overboard, but I suggest you buy a few fakes to get you immediate social proof.

Following less than are following you makes you look more of an authority.

Ultimately it is quality content that will determine you actual engagement level and that will determine your income.

"make yourself appealing to advertisers and sponsors, with your engagement level."
Can you explain this a little bit?
How?

Great post.

I have 730 followers at the moment. Can you maybe suggest the best place to buy followers? And how many should I buy at a time? Would it be best to spread out my buy over a couple of months?

How many are you following?

Anyone have a good guide in the parent child method?

I saw this checklist once, but my attention just went to another project and honestly... Never tried it.

Still, someone might confirm if this is how it works -

  1. Create accounts with burner phone at a random location

  2. Age Accounts for 2 weeks

  3. Start loading some content on week 3 or 4 at random locations.

  4. After 1 month > Start the bot (low actions: 200 actions per day. Setup under Proxy IP)

  5. At month 2 or 2 and Half, you may increase actions (500 actions per day)

  6. At month 3, you can start to may out, slowly climb to 1,000 actions per day - But risky to go higher!

  7. How should my profile look like?

  8. What to post on caption? 1) Tag Main acc. 2) “Go @handle for full info” or similar

  9. Content: What buyer persona wants to see? Best and Viral content

  10. How I should name it? Social proof (@Fans, admirers, vids, pics, etc) - Every profile must have original name on it

  11. How many? If one, two or three: Not 3rd party. Fan Page: 25 FP’s recommended

OP you should be having your own blog and writing about this.

I receive a lot of DM to follow their main acct after I've follow their sub account.

Initially you will be 100% bot followers. But if your buying bot followers longer term you want to aim for at least 60% real, so padding your account by 40% would be the most I would do. But be aware bots may already be following you . You can check you accounts current standing at https://igaudit.io/ if your real follower count shows in green your fine!
