@Shel Your taking my quote out of context, i said to start off your site buy some fake followers to give you instant social cred, so you can then build it up legitimately and then delete the fakes.

I am not suggesting you only buy fake followers, try to pass them off as real to scam people into paying a monthly subscription.

To answer your other questions...

I own an agency that matches brands with influencers. Anyone who knows what they are doing who does something similar to me can analyse your account. Anything more than 50% fake sets off alarm bells.

I actually work with influencers in the travel industry. The accounts i work with have 1 million+ followers and are paid a % tracked through an affiliate link. So i know exactly who books through them.

Nobody will pay an ongoing subscription of any amount, let alone €299 per month, without being able to measure what they receive for it. Your plan is to deliver nothing and hope hotels dont realise and keep paying you month on month.

People pay subscriptions for something tangible. Your trying to turn something intangible into a subscription and your not actually going to deliver anything. As i said previously you would have to be pretty stupid to agree to that.

I see hotels paying influencers just for a photo of them in their hotel

I dont see how this kind of posts can be tracked since theres no aff link/promo code
It just gives them brand awareness

So, lets say i have a 200k real followers account in the hotel niche (with decent engagement), what youre saying is that hotels wouldnt be interested into being showcased on this account once a month for a subscription, except if I use an aff link/promo code?

Me, yes you would be correct i would not be interested unless it was trackable and under no circumstances would i ever pay you a subscription.

The major value of shoutouts is if you wish to grow your own ig account. My agency is not interested in that. My clients come to me to make sales and get actionable engagement. They pay quick and they pay well, but they expect results. I have a system that delivers by working with influencers to create immersive content targeted to their demographic.

What you propose would not enable me to deliver that, so thats why i would not be interested.

Okay

Lets say I build a legitimate 200k account in the Hotel niche, with 2-3% engagement

Do you have an idea of how much money it could make monthly?

Also what is the best niche (most high paying) or what niche would you recommend?

Thanks

I can only tell you what my agency looks for.

I am mostly interested in your demographic and actionable engagement rate. In other words who do you appeal to and can you influence them to complete an action that takes them off instagram.

If you can do that then you have value, because you really are an influencer, not a wannabee and so can make a lot of money. Typically averaging somewhere between $.50 and $1 per real follower per year. Lets say your 200k account had 50% real followers. That would mean you could make $50,000 - $100,000 per year. You would not be doing that selling shoutouts or subscriptions, but working with brands.

If it was me, i would not do travel. The easiest demograhic to target is men 18-35. The easiest way to target them with babes accounts.

I'm wondering what brands are selling for 18-35 men that follow a babe account

Is it best to target a specific country/language or internationally?

Also Is it possible to know the name of your agency?

No brands i work with would target your account directly with their products asking your followers to buy them. As i said that is not how i work, it is demographics that interest me. First we build engaging content, that starts on your account but then takes your followers off ig to continue and the brands link to that.

Tier 1 english speaking demographics pay the most. Usa or uk etc.

To be honest with you my agency would not work with you until you have a legit decent sized account that meets our needs. Once you do, we then invite you to work with us.

But you or anyone here on bhw can let me know your account details and i will check it out. Your not there yet.

Okay thanks for all your useful answers

Great stuff, thanks for the overview.

I've applied alot of the same stuff for some recent brand accounts. Nice to know I'm on the right track.

Recently, the mother/child method has worked wonders for giving a boost while transitioning from bot followers to organic and engaged.

Thanks for this overview! Thinking of it as publishing was kind of a paradigm shift. It's time I go back to some of my accounts and change my approach a little

Wonderful advice. At what followers figure do you think it's time to start monetizing?

Very useful post gringo. What you said about fresh quality postings hits close to home for me. So far I have just been posting weekly or bi-weekly which I now realise might not be enough. I think I will scale my postings to twice a week or more if I can manage it. Thank you :)

For me micro influencers have between 10,000 - 100,000 followers, but your income really depends on your engagement level, particularly if you can demonstrate actionable engagement.
