if ghost followers are active bots, aren't they "online" for Instagram if they're boting all day?

I'm assuming that most of our ghost followers are just inactive and not even on the app and a small % of them actually being "online" and botting.

i think we're talking about two different cases. In my previous post I was referring to personal use (mjjs33 asked about her personal account). So my guesses were based on my own account analysis at small scale. Meaning up to 5 personal / fun accounts created / used over time.

Let me explain you way of thinking:
Currently with the purge that's happening I'm losing followers (5-10 a day). This will probably influence my reach (Instagram would think my content is bad so users are unfollowing me). But those who are unfollowing me are mostly low quality users which currently account for about 20% of my total followers. Once low quality users share in my followers declined significantly and I stop losing them, I expect increase in reach and therefore engagement rate.

On the other hand, of course botting with hundreds of accounts is an extreme case of spammy activity on certain ip/device/whatever. That indeed can be flagged. But first of all the amount of activity would bring Instagram's attention rather than the act of following and unfollowing.

Hey so what do you think how I can revive my "flagged" account based on your experience? I mean I used botting (follow/unfollow) but stopped that about 2 months ago! It is a personal account btw.

Thanks!

Thanks for this, it explains so much. I was wondering why my engagement has been so low, i had way more likes back when I had a lot less followers, but back then i had never used a bot and engagement groups. I also turned my account into a business one for the analytics and while I got over 700 likes on a post (thanks to an engagement group), instagram shows that I had a reach of 400 with that post, so they def know. I'm a bit upset that I've apparently ruined ny account, since it's a personal one and it's still really small, but I felt like that was already pretty tough to reach.
I just had a question though, I understand now that the large engagement round groups are bad, but what about the smaller ones that you can join anytime of the day and you just like 10 photos and get 10 likes back? Are those okay? Are you sure that follow/unfollow without a bot does not have the same effect btw? I feel like organically growing an account is so hard these days, no idea how to:(

Yes smaller one created on Instagram DMS are fine. Follow/unfollow without bot does have it uses and it yields better results but I still don't recommend it unless you are starting ig. Read the thread again on how to grow organically

Thanks a lot for this tutorial @tux

I have just one question, when you have a list of @ IG account, how do you FollowMass the list ? manually or with a bot ? if you use a tool can you give me the name of the software please :)

Follow mass list ?

@tux

Just a question I thought of.

Can you explain more thoroughly on why this strategy would work that well though? I'm trying it out now but it will take some time to remove all ghost followers.

When you make a new post, IG will show it to some people who are on Instagram correct? Meaning if they are ghost and not even using IG, they will never even see it.
In addition, IG only allows you to have certain reach on any given post and will never show it to 100% of your following and their algorithm will always optimize your posts to be shown to prior people who have engaged with your feed (giving their users the best possible experience).

With 3 aspects in play, how does removing a significant amount of your followers (ghost or not engaging with your content) result in better overall engagement on the account?

Ghost accounts are non engaging accounts , they can be bots, users who never like your pic or people who never open Instagram. Algorithm will show pics to your followers (currently online) not basically the users who tend to like your pic , coz if that's the case then people having og content and having loyal followers will always hit explore (due to loyal fanbase). What would you prefer a account with 10 followers and all 10 likes your pic or an account with 100 followers and only 10 like the pic ?

What bots can scrape these lists?

Hi OP, great thread! I have a few questions that were unanswered here. I'll tell you a little bit about my account so that my situation is clearer. I am a fashion blogger and grew my account to 43 k manually by following/unfollowing people (sometimes very aggressively). I also used bots for a little while, but they weren't very effective so I stopped them. I probably used them 3 x 1 month (sporadically) over a year and a half, and it's been at least 6 months since I last tried one. My engagement was starting to cause me a headache about 2 months ago, when it dropped to about 2% from my previous 3%+. I then started engagement pods...

After that my engagement returned to my normal levels, but ofc I didn't want to continue with the pods as they were so time consuming. I had seen that some other bloggers had participated in loop giveaways and grown their accounts to 100k+ that way. I was intrigued and eager to try out the method because I REALLY wanted to stop the follow/unfollow method as well as the engagement groups. Well, after the loop my account grew to 58k BUT my engagement dropped to below 1%!!! This is without engagement pods. My reach is about 5-6k per post according to my analytics. I am also losing about 100-200 followers per day ever since the loop. I've uploaded a screenshot of my socialblade as well.

I was initially so shocked about my engagement that I joined a few engagement pods again. I also started doing F/U again because I was convinced that the low engagement was tied to having a negative gain of followers per day. What do you think about this?

After reading the thread I have decided to try staying away from engagement pods for 2 weeks, turned my business account into a personal account and I'm also following the engagement plan that was suggested here. BUT I am still doing F/U because of the decline in followers that I'm experiencing. What do you think of this strategy? Would it be better to just not do F/U and let my account sink for a few weeks/month? Or do you think that the low engagement could be directly related to the negative gain of followers like I do?

I also wanted to ask you about your manually grown accounts that you mentioned. Around what price point are they?

Thanks so much!!!

I would suggest you to stop follow/unfollow completely. You should try to do steps mentioned in this thread without follow/unfollow. The hand-grown accounts I sell vary from $10-$20 for per 1k followers. I've sent you a pm.

What if the account change the owner and the owner deletes all photos and starts uploading his own. Does cleaning the account affect the algorithm somehow?

I never had good time after cleaning the account or changing the account name. I would never recommend to do both of the above. You can start again after cleaning the account but it takes immense effort to get back in the game

If I gave you my instagram's account info, could you do this for me in exchange for payment?

Hi, can you pls PM me your hand-grown accounts that are available to buy pls?
Thx!

hey thanks for the thread and answers!
quick question
I have an account (travel), posting 3-5 a day, has over 5k followers, growing 100-200 followers per day
and is in over 50 DM!

What am I doing wrong? Others make like 1k a day :D

thanks!

Absolutly awesome post. Thank you very much.

I would appreciate some kind of listing or something of bots/programs that people prefer for this "clean up process", I have no problem purchasing apps/bots to get this done right. I currently have a fitness account at 230k that I want to atleast try to revive somewhat.

I had FL 2 years ago, but lost in so I'll purchase new software, any recommendations regarding the steps and programs/apps needed?

Hi @tux sorry if I ask my question here because I can not send pm.

My problem is that I have an account with 800k folllowers and it dropping every day about 200 or 300. It begins when my account shadowbaned. I fix it but sometimes its ok and I see my post on explore and sometimes its going to shadowban. Some times losing followers is stop and sometime its dropping. I tried all the ways but nothing... even f/uf.

whats your advice?

Thanks if help me.

Hello guys, I’m going on with this technique, but I want to ask you one thing.

While I’m liking the profiles, I’m also checking for low quality/fake accounts and blocking/unblocking them as I go, do you think that mixing the two actions could harm the IG algorithm/engagement recovery?

I recently had an account reactivated and the engagement is pretty low. I was told it takes 30 days for pages to get back to their normal engagement, does anyone have any opinions on this?
