Want to start SEO from 0

Hello,

I am starting SEO from 0 on a blog I am opening today, I just finish the SEO on page (all meta tags, alt tags, etc) and my question is very simple, what are the steps to follow to do the off page SEO correctly and what tools to use are recomended to create a good SEO that will grow gradually and to the top? But, I mean the right way to do it even if takes me 8 months to get there to the first page, (all white hacks technichs if posible).

The best use of your time will be to build backlinks to your site. If you look at any large sites that rank well, they get links from all sorts of places, however, the way you should view links when you are first starting out is to find the most relevant locations possible. Whether you will get a penalty because it is not relevant may not be an issue, but other factors would be considered like the types of sites that the site you are using links to and the other locations you have backlinks for.

One way to get relevant links is through guest posts. While these are not always easy to get, they are a viable way to get links, but more importantly network with those in your niche. Over time you should continue to get relevant links from the most relevant locations, but with more authority, comes more breathing room to get links from different locations.

This is a slow and steady process, others may have other opinions, but this is what I believe to be reasonable and true.

Hello TheContentAuthority and everythingred, first of all thanks for the replies and valuable info, so basically to start SEO is making link building? What about making articles? where are the best palces for it and if it helps at all?? Anything else I have to have in mind? and how long until I see some results so, I can know if I am doing things right?

Here are a couple of pointers that should point you in the right direction.


1. Get your onsite SEO spot on from day 1. If you need any help with this let me know.
2. Slowly build authorative backlinks, guest blog posts are what I would spend my time on. (Check out this thread for some basic ways of getting blog posts http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ike-credit-cards-holidays-location-loans.html)
3. Create link diversity manually, get some good quality content on a hubpage, squidoo lense, some article directories, some web directories.
4. Depending on your niche try and build some hype through twitter, run a competition or something it will help get you some page views early on.


In general I think the best advice you can really have is steady, consistent strategy.


Figure out what you want in your first month:


8 guest blog posts on good blogs
10 articles on article directories
20 blog comments
30 social bookmarks
1 good quality web 2.0 with a couple of articles on it


Now break that down into daily tasks. Keep it simple. Do not get bored one day and smash it with a massive wiki blast or something. Just stick to your plan.


Now it's month 2, your website is building a good authority because of your related guest blog posts, so ramp it up, double up last months plan. Split it down into daily tasks and get on it.


Rinse and repeat, mix it up. Keep the anchor text as diverse as possible.


Boom you have yourself a natural, incremental SEO strategy that is very simple to integrate and will not be destroyed by the next Google update.
 
Guest posting is definitely one of the best strategies to use for log term results. If you want an easier time doing it, here are a couple of places where you can find people actively looking for your guest posts:

Just one more question, I got a friend that is a SEO Consultant, and he recommend me to use MajesticSEO tool's he told me is the easiest way for people who start on SEO, but, the thing I did not understand is what is the strategy using this tools?? For what I seen there is a tool to check competitors backlinks, so, basically you check competitors backlinks and put your link where they put it? Is that the strategy to use with this tools? Any thing else?

Also what is the best tool to check ranking of keywords?

You have done on page seo now its time for off page. Put good keyword rich long tail content and get backlinks from all over the net consistently. Don't get them like 500 one day then nothing for a week or so. Submit rss feed and publish content daily on your blog. Make feedburner feed highly recommended.
 
Start with little bit on page optimization and create links on a daily basis.

If you want to go white hat, then don't use any automated tools to direct links to your money site. This will most likely get your site sandboxed because it is new. If you want to build white hat links that will keep you ranking forever, then you will have to go out and get links from other related sites or create niche related articles on free mini blog websites such as wordpress.org or squidoo.com

If you want to use automated software you should direct the software to link to the mini blogs.
 
Well, I could say something about tools.You could go for manually link building to rise your position.Or. Senux XCR would be a good option for you.

Why dont you just pay someone to do it for you? When my car goes dead I dont start buying books on mechanics and visiting forums about car repair. I go call the grease monkey and he fix it for me. Geez
There is a lot of people here doing SEO...those social bookmakrs and WEB 2.0 profiles, that's so cheap....
 
gave op reps simply because it's always refreshing to see a newb on here that doesn't have his head up his a$$ with unrealistic goals.

There are so many things you can do with backlinking. The main points you should have taken away from my post is use guest blog posts and be consistent as you ramp everything up month on month. Oh yea and don't forget onsite content!

This is white hat (whatever that means), long term strategy. Using tools, buying numerous services is not going to get you anywhere until you understand exactly why you are doing it. Every one thing you do should be part of a much bigger strategy.
 
Good luck man if you have some money to spend you can get some good tools to automate backlinks to your site
