Indeed... Just because 5,000 people do something stupid, doesn't mean it's not stupid.
It's an old analogy, but a useful one;
If a law was passed tomorrow making it illegal to breathe, would you follow that law? Not likely - instead, you'd say 'this is a stupid law, I shall disregard it'. Meaning, of course, that you see it fit to exercise judgment about which laws deserve your adherence and which don't.
The only question, then, is - at what point do you choose to exercise that judgment? How 'stupid' exactly does the law need to be?
