As posters above I think that with Ngrams data Google will be able to penalize texts with gramatical errors. I think Panda is just first rollout of the algorithm. Badly spun content is on its way out.
The other possibility is that Google might start to do some light text-mining to determine information content of web pages. These algorithms are finally fast enough to use them on a larger scale. In such case, text without facts/factoids is going to be penalized as well.
I don't expect however major changes in respect to deep backlinking verification. This is too expensive computationally.

I do not know how Google works in 2012, but hopefully we can succeed in any business in 2012, good luck all

I still think people are depending on search engines. Thus SEO will still be ON. Also if Social networking is bothering you. You can call SNO : Social Netwok Optimization

I agree. From my experience by keeping things diverse in terms of content, types of links and IP's websites will climb the rankings.
I would say this approach worked better for my clients at the end of 2011 than it did at the beginning.
Google are very adept at putting out enough dis information to get everyone worrying and over thinking. Yes there have been some big changes in 2011, but the truth is that the core SEO techniques done well get results and (hopefully) will continue to do so.

I will share what i have seen and experienced providing my service for past 6 months
Only thing that i see works and has not been penalized by big G is "Article Marketing". Pure and simple Unique articles posted to best and top paid networks.
I say this not only to promote my service
So basically keep your articles unique and keep sending them to different blogs having high PR and different IP (available with all paid networks)

I'm preparing by learning how to SELL ice to an Eskimo and learning NLP and things. I'm basically thinking about 2013 and really in my head saying "ok, in 2013 I'm going to LOSE 50% of my organic traffic", how do I make that up in other ways?
Could offline promo methods fit into this etc?
History does repeat, I've spent hours thinking about what could possibly repeat, in both search engine behavior and SOCIAL behavior. What happened during the industrial revolution etc, what happened in the depression, in terms of how people think. Legalizing vs prohibition. Maybe thats a bit far to be looking, but you gotta think, the devs over at Big G certainly are.

Like always, Google will make new enhancements in their search engine settings (which they always do) and people will learn to get bypass them, i am sure they can even invent something against Panda, 2012 will kill Panda hopefully.

Windows 8 is coming, it will have top notch Bing browser (speculation, xbox360 has windows 8 interface and if you scroll all way to left you can see that there is that Bing browser, it's in developement i think).
I think In this year google will lose around 15% of the SE market for Bing/Yahoo.
Also this year looks promising eventough my traffic calmed down horribly after the holidays, hopefully people is coming back from their hangover to google
EDIT: also i think some of the social sites will make a contract with Bing, when windows 8 is launched, most likely facebook will be there to make friends "hey lets integrade Bing to our facebook"

Fascinating thread guys, lots of interesting opinions to think about!
My predictions:
1. Slower indexing on links over a longer time period, plus not so frequent and dramatic changes of rankings, especially on page 1 results - in order to give the authority, long term strategy sites an advantage. I can see indications of this already
2. HUGE Devaluation of EMDs,
3. Increased importance of deep linking and less and very little domain authority - in order to rank article on the domain, domain authority will not matter so much anymore. The authority and links to the particular page will only matter
4. New strong player on site flipping market (with VC) - This Flippa simply sucks so badly, I can not understand how it can be number one still.
5. Custom tools and bots will rule! Don't have any? Well, you should get it soon.

Huge increase of bots on fall and they will continue popping out for whole 2012.Automation has never been better for us IMers!
