Hello Everyone,

I added my Facebook pixel to my Woocommerce store.

I'm running a sales campaign, to track my sales and optimize for sales:

I'm wondering as a conversion event, should i pick the default "Purchase" event, or my "custom conversion event" based on the URL that I give it?

Thanks

Hello!

Great to hear that you've added your Facebook pixel to your WooCommerce store! When it comes to tracking conversions for your sales campaign, both the default "Purchase" event and a custom conversion event can be useful, but they serve slightly different purposes.

  1. Default "Purchase" Event: Using the default "Purchase" event is typically recommended because it is standardized and directly linked to Facebook's conversion tracking. This event automatically captures essential details like transaction values and product IDs, which can enhance your ad optimization and reporting.
  2. Custom Conversion Event: If you have specific needs or want to track a particular user journey (for example, tracking purchases from a specific product category or campaign), a custom conversion based on a URL can be beneficial. Custom conversions allow for more granular tracking, but they may require additional setup to ensure accuracy.
Make sure to test the pixel to confirm that it's firing correctly on the purchase confirmation page. This will ensure that you're collecting accurate data.

If you have any further questions or need help with setup, feel free to ask me

Thank you for your explicit answer man. I did set it as you recommended to Purchase event based on my situation.

However, I noticed that sometimes, not all the time, that there is a double tracking of the same sale.

I don't know why is that, is it because the buyer possible returns to the payment page? perhaps because of a first payment failure event?

Does that happen? is that normal?

Go for custom conversion event. Or maybe add a thank you page confirming purchase completion.
