I would like to start a offshore hosting list with real life testimonials of the pros... and the cons... of each
i.e. (tos) (shared/vps/dedicated) (support) etc...

Now I know there are a lot of them out there... But maybe we could narrow it down and help a lot of people from losing time and money. I think this would be greatly appreciated by many, many in the forum. :D

Before considering wrzhost this is what I found out after the fact of signing up,

tos
"No refunds are offered on Virtual Private Servers (VPS) or Dedicated Servers, Setup Fees, Domain Registration, SSL certificates, Dedicated IP addresses, or Software licenses."

Well I guess you really should read the small print...

More help on offshore hosting needed...

This is probably why their under no big hurry to respond to support tickets, it's going on 12 hours since I submitted a ticket...

They all seem to have something to argue against them - of course, they probably would be safe, US-based hosts if they didn't.
Right now I'm looking at XRumer Servers - but would love a discussion like this. Not getting my hopes up, but it would be great.

They seem a little pricy if it's the one I looked at... whois shows based in canada and they claim servers are based in Moscow, Russia
Personally I'm not looking for fully dedicated... I want support to run/maintain it.
Let us know what else you find out that would be great :)

Here's an update...
Support responded to my ticket "Please hold on, I am forwarding this to the concerned department."
What the hell does that mean? I just looked in the submit support ticket area... There is no "concerned department"
Is this a joke?
So here it is, just about 24hrs no server, or IP address
wrzhost could use more documentation on their site as to the process of "getting started" At least for a newbie, like me

Posted on another thread "solidboxes" is anyone else using them?
If so... What do you think?

Quest... To find the fastest, cheapest, most reliable offshore hosting!

Been using CCIHosting and they have been pretty easy to work with. I have a virtual package thats offshore/panama and my only complaint is that its a little slow sometimes. You can reg anon domains and setup hosting at the same site, the tech support is responsive and the price rates are competitive.

Ya I looked at CCIHosting too, well still am...
I've decided to setup a domain on WachaHost since wrzhost is on vacation and as I speak... their sites down.

Here's what I've noticed wachahost...
-Set up (after purchase) was good
-Seems to be a older cpanel, that's ok
-No simple scritps for wp install (have to do it the old fashion way)
I will add thou... During wp setup, I had the hardest time getting wp to hookup sql database. As far as I can figure out it was the password, it didn't like some auto generated ones

will do, but here's what I got for them:
79.143.184.185 Located in Riga - Riga - Latvia

Still looking - every host I find who might qualify either has speed or support questions (at least from the posts I've seen) - isn't really bullet-proof (that is, reportedly folds pretty quickly after complaints) or is expensive. So far, xrumer-servers seems the cheapest ($250) of the truly bullet-proof, but I'm still looking.
It's too bad, I know there are lots of people here who could give us the answer very easily - but I haven't found anything definitive yet from that angle.

Ya I hear that... I guess everyone is busy doing their own thing, which is understandable

FYI to all, wrzhosting blows...
3 days nothing, I can't login to billing/support or anything and it seems that they have been down for 2 days now (sales/support page) Ya, think twice about these guys...

Its called "A one man operation". Youll find hosts like this all over the net.

True dat... It's a bummer thou, I went there because someone here put them on their members only blog as "preferred hosting" as part of their program.

Well I think the (one man band) "dude" is on vacation... Probably drinking beer with my money... Maybe he'll get a little taste of karma. Someone, please piss in his beer! lol

Cheers!

I've been hosted by large companies and one-man bands over the years.
There's only *one* way that you can be happy with a one-man band.
If the man is a good friend.
My friend hosted me for a while, and I could call him any time. If he was on vacation 1000 miles away, I knew it, I could call his cell phone and he could take care of things.
If that's not the situation --- a one-man band is trouble, sooner or later.

Well I didn't want to make this a rant over one company, rather a place to narrow down the sea of offshore hosting companies so that someone could feel "reasonably" comfortable going with a company... So my last update on wrzhost... They closed my ticket, and my account is still pending, there's more but why rant... You get my point, so going for a refund. Wish me luck.

So on the up side, been trying wachahost so far not bad. However I don't have any heavy traffic yet so the true test is yet to come. But from what I can tell, my up time has been good

Cheers!

Check your cPanel. There is an icon called "Installatron" which will auto install wordpress and other CMS's for you. It is alot more "secure" as such than things like fantastico. Because it doesn't just give you default security settings (Database prefixes like wp_ among other things).

Well, I've just ordered a virtual package with CCI Hosting to see how they do - I'm also looking at indianets which has a nice SEO package.
To be continued...
