My 12 Week Kindle Challenge

Ok quick update...one of my three books currently out got two sales today before it went out for free :)

Great thread! I am starting right now my Kindle empire lol
Hope we can share some info along the way.
Keep it up!

Wow, ambitious goal (3 books a week!). So your plan is to have so many books on Kindle, you're bound to get a sale by default? I hope it works for you. Have you done keyword research into popular book niches or are you just writing about what you know?

That's a lot of content to be putting out. Will be following this to see how you come out. Best of luck mate.

Siemattheww, I am glad you are starting your Kindle empire. I heard a lot of people having success with it so I figured I might as well see what's up :). I am sure we can both help each other out!

Yup, 3 books per week has been challenging but considering I just graduated and don't have to worry about going to class anymore I got a lot of time on my hands ;)

I am actually sticking mostly to the health and fitness niche, just browsing around to see what books are selling well there. I am considering entering the relationship niche as well.

Thanks SEO Alchemy! The support from you guys really motivates me to keep pushing through even when I don't want to!

You're bananas Eagle, I have a hard time writing a 500 word article in a week and you write 3 10,000 word books in a week... <_<

What's your secret?

^ must be a PRO writer!

Best of luck OP for your Kindle Challenge :)

Ah, ok, it makes sense now! After I finished uni it felt weird not writing 10k words in one sitting. Best of luck!

Haha yea I think just graduating after going to college for four years where I had research paper after research paper to write definitely helps. It feels weird not writing now!

Also, finding high quality content and learning how to rewrite it in your own words is a HUGE help. I am actually considering purchasing a few PLR books and completely 100% rewriting them. I know Amazon doesn't allow PLR but as long as it is completely rewritten I don't think there would be an issue? Plus that would allow me to quickly produce books on topics I don't know a whole lot about. Hmmmm....

If you go on the PLR route, be sure to completely rewrite them. I'm not sure how but Amazon quickly removes content that is considered either PLR or readily available from anywhere. The exception being the recipes niche (unless too many buyers are complaining or reporting it).

I like your KDP strategy. Typically, other books by an author see sales bumps if one of their books is free. It works really well for fiction series books. Nice to see you flying, Eagle. Keep up the good work.

wow 10k words a day is a lot, I know a lot of authors who make good money from their books cant do that, 5k would be considered a huge amount in a day. congrats
I usually break the free days up in to 2 days etc , just in case the book needs a boost again
We are about to publish our first 70k novel as we have been just doing what you are doing books from 7k to 15k , but we are in it for the long haul as its kinda fun to do and who knows where it could go

getting reviews is a big thing and genuine ones , start a blog get a twitter, grow your audience especially if its fiction as this will help in marketing as followers push your books.
and if your going to be making writing your thing, get to know other authors, as lots will often feature your book on their blog which helps in sales "the hardest thing is letting the world know your book is there, it a big pool"

just to wet the appetite
I know plenty of authors that are making anywhere from $20 to 10k a month and the 10ks are your middle of the road not best sellers , its all about hitting on the write big thing , so here's, hoping best of luck will be following and may hit you up on adsense advice

I'll follow this journey, I've always been interested in this method. Good luck!

Demon Logic, thank you so much for that encouragement! Sounds like you are already really successful on Kindle! Oh and I wish I was writing 10K per day haha, I am averaging about 4K per day right now.

Those are some awesome numbers you gave for what people are earning, if I could even make 4k per month out of this I would be ecstatic!

Good luck on your 70K novel, that sounds incredible!

Week 2 Sunday Update

Books Released This Week: 2
Sales This Week: 6
Borrows This Week: 1

I was pretty happy about the fact that i sold 6 books this week and had 1 borrow.

I only managed to get 2 books out there and am half way done with my third one. I SEVERELY underestimated the time it would take to actually promote these books on the free days. I am still going to try to put out 3 books per week but I might have to change my goal to 2-3 books per week because promoting took much longer than expected.

Overall I am happy this week because of the six sales and one borrow (which is basically just as good as a sale).

What are your methods to promote your new books?
I read about facebook and contacting other authors, but this seems to be just the tip of the iceberg.
If you want to exchange some promotion ideas PM me.

Oh, and good job with the sales!

Eagle are you using different names for books or all under the one author ?

Currently I am just submitting them to all the free sites over at authormarketingclub.com. I have a list of facebook groups I would like to submit to as well but haven't gotten around to doing that yet.
