How many maximum tags I can use in my WordPress website, because I read somewhere that, the max is 12, what's your opinion?

these days tags are bit dangerous because some time google through shallow page penalty,so instead of tags i do recommend internal linking of your post and categories.but rare not excessive.

ok, like instead of the words i type in tags, shall i add it in my posts ? Will it help in my seo ?

I use tags for 2 or 3 related long tails. Don't use them to keyword stuff, though.

I try to use tags that can be used on other articles, so you dont have tag pages with just 1 article. I think that's a good method so you're just not tagging for the sake of tagging or keyword stuffing. Actually make it so that your tag archive pages are populated.
