Goal: 2 Authority Sites that make $3,000+/mo total by June 30, 2012, with $5,000 or less investment capital.

Background. I first started article marketing in late 2007, promoting chinese language courses with ClickBank. Quickly I moved to Craigslist ewhoring, then CPA with social PPC and media buys. But the types of campaigns were unstable, and while the good days were really really good, the bad days were just waiting for the next good day to come. While I tried several times stabilizing my income with different offers, traffic sources, making my own offers, etc it just all seems like a big rat race to me. I'm learning more about whitehat seo in an attempt to create a decent, stable and reliable income stream. My first goal is $100/day or $3,000/mo with 2 authority sites in ~7 months of effort.

I want to build out 2 authority sites with whitehat seo. I have been soaking up threads like a sponge, and I noticed that most threads on authority sites assume limited resources. I am fortunate to have some cash to invest, but my time is tied up in other online ventures, so I'll be looking for a way to outsource everything possible. Hopefully this helps future readers who also have some cash, but limited time. I want to log the different prices and sources for all my outsourcing, and how my methods and providers change over time. I'll try to answer questions whenever I can, and update my results every week or so.

It's really easy getting caught in the BHW black hole, just endlessly reading post after post, thread after thread and not accomplish much that day. But after reading a bunch of whitehat seo stuff, it seems like building an authority site has remarkably stayed the same over the years:
    1. Good KW research. This starts with a good niche. I picked two niches that I recently learned a lot about and seem like they could become big sites. Good kw's are ones with high search volume, not too hard to rank, and attract searches with commercial intent. I'm doing KW research mostly myself. I read through BTB guide to KW research, and using common sense.
    2. Good Onsite SEO. A lot of this can be done in wordpress + plugins. If you don't know what to do, read GreyWolf's posts. He's ExecutiveVIP for very good reasons.
    3. Offsite SEO. Build links. My money sites are my authority sites. I don't shit where I eat, so no spamming my money sites. No SB blasts, forum profiles, crazy bookmarking or article submissions straight to the money site. Maybe tier 1 or tier 2 could be ok, but I'll research it out further. There are a shitton of methods for getting backlinks in this forum. I'm hoping to stumble onto some service providers that appear to be Panda proof, and stay away from anything that could compromise my efforts.

Outsourcing. I'll be doing a lot of it. For this journal, I won't be counting hosting costs or my own labor costs, but I'll try to keep rough track of how much time and money I spend on this project. Because I'm outsourcing almost everything, I'll need to read through all the reviews to make sure service providers are legit before using them, and hopefully I can ask for referral services once I find a couple providers that deliver good results on time.

I will be doing a mixture of link pushing and buying edu, high pr links from BTB, MrE, BigBuddy, and others as I find out about them. Since I will only be building 2 sites, I don't want them fucked up by some second rate service.

    Steps so far:
I ordered two MNS+ sites (the $167 package) from the BTB thread on 11/9/11. I got the sites on 11/22, but I'm not really sweating a day or two here or there. I plan on building out these sites over this next 6+ months, so a couple days doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

KW research was also done by the BTB team. I picked two high earning potential niches, one in business opportunity and the other is health. While I was only expecting the advertised 150 kws, I got a total of 250 kw's for each site, or 500 kws total. While some of them don't make much sense, it only takes me 15 minutes to run down the list and get rid of the few weird kw's, so this is definitely a nice value. Any of those kw's seem like potentially big earners with $1+CPC.

Onsite SEO. This was pretty much done for me by the BTB team. The WordPress is up, looks pretty. I'm hoping MrE can help look through my site and give me some advice when I get around to using his service.

Offsite SEO. Nothing yet. I'll be researching different tools and services, and incorporate them into my plan.

    Plan:
    $6 cost / article
    60 articles / mo
    $360 article cost / mo
    $97 linkpushing service
    720 total annual articles
    $457 total monthly cost
    $2,742 six month cost
My rough plan is to spend $5k in 6 months. But we all know things don't go according to the plan. So I have about $2k for trying out a bunch of other services and buffer if something goes badly. If I see some service boost results a lot, then maybe I will scale up and add more articles and services.

    Help A Noob Out?
Like I said before, I'm new to SEO.
How should I show my results?
What programs should I use to display this stuff?
I'll be listing out the programs / methods / services that I use. Any suggestions are welcome :)
I'm thinking I will keep my URL's secret for now, with the possibility of revealing them later. This way, someone can't fuck with me and purposely sabotage my results.

    Summary:
    $334 for 2 MNS+
    Running total: $334
2 hrs - kw research and dicking around reading reviews of different services.
    Started 11/9/11. Ending 6/30/12

I like to use Traffic travis to track my keywords rank.

Are you going to rank your keywords with linkpush only?

    What theme are you using?

Will you only monetize with adsense?

anyway, this thread is interesting. I'll surely follow your updates :)

Ranking seems like variations of the same strategy: get quality, natural looking backlinks from authority sites in the same niche as you. I'll start off with linkpushes and add other services as I get more informed. Someone recommended NoHandsSEO so I'll probably purchase that soon.

I don't know which theme I'm using but I bought the $167 from BTB, so it's some premium theme.

Monetization - The two niches that I chose I am very familiar with. The sites can be monetized with Adsense, CPA, Amazon, lead gen. I'll start with Adsense and focus my efforts on linking strategy. When I have a solid strategy and services in place, I'll focus on adding monetization.

@Malenza - I looked through the BST thread, searched through article writing services, and read every single review for most of the threads. I chose PPCmaster aka ContentYogi for 100 articles. I'll try multiple content writers during this journey. I'm mostly focused on quality and not price.

    Summary:
    $499 for 100 articles
5 hours reading article writing reviews
    Running total: $834
    Total time: 7 hours

Are the sites good what you got from BTB? I am guessing they are as he is a great guy, but are they good for building on, and making into authority sites? Im looking to purchase some ..

The same question as above + it would be cool if you could write a little about your niche and keywords - how many total searches, what is the competition etc. I want to do the same as you but I'm stuck at picking the right keywords and niche. It's so fucking hard to choose and it's a crucial thing...

It's a good plan you have! However, I wish it was so easy to have $5,000 in your pocket, find few good service providers, invest little time and be making $3,000 a month on autopilot... For sure- you can reach it, but expect to invest lot more of your time as you imagine, and work really hard on it...

If it was possible to done only with the services, the sellers of these services would not sell it anymore, but go the same journey on their own.

Anyway, I wish you good luck as I am personally on a similar journey as you are, just with little higher goal and little higher time frame :). If you want any advice, you can PM me anytime.

I too purchased a site from BTB and his team. BTB is a stand up guy and you can't go wrong dealing with him on any of the products he is selling.

    @yubrew

If your looking for an awesome writer that produces magazine quality content PM me. He isn't cheap but does excellent work.

Sounds like you're going for adsense with CPC ... I highly recommend the following WSO.

    Fatcat Blueprint

Also, from the sound of the direction you're wanting to take, I think you'll find this following article to be extremely useful in at least confirming you're making the right decision.

    Is Branding The New Way

Since you're going for authority, in addition to just building new links, I recommend also buying links from existing authority sites.

@ContentCreation - They're great starterkits for an authority site. I think you'll need to tweak it a bit to make it authority site worthy, but all the major lifting has been done by them.

@Marcinao - I picked real estate and dental niches. I picked them because I know both well and I'm pretty sure there's a bunch of high traffic high CPC keywords there. I honestly don't know the total searches but I think pretty much everyone wants to buy a house at some point, and everyone is worried about their teeth. The keywords have been selected by the BassTrackerBoats (BTB) team when I purchased their micro niche sites plus package. You can discuss with them the niche(s) you're looking into and they can help guide you into a good one to start. If you're still having issues, I'd think about stuff you're interested in, and then decide which things a lot of people would be interested in reading about. As long as there's a healthy number of people in it, and a good number of advertisers, then you should be fine. Also you might want to check out the MarketSamurai Challenge:
YT.com/watch?v=q-P2ua1Wc_I&feature=bf_prev&list=PL3912BCD568ED6EA6&%20lf=results_main (replace http://www.youtube for YT haha)

@Execute - nice, let me know how things go for you :)

@kingpenny - G might slap me, but I will turn the other cheek. I can't run too fast and I'm not terribly clever, so robbing a bank wouldn't work for me :)

@Kaiser7 - keep reading about different methods to get yourself familiar. Then choose a method based on your personality, your current money situation, and your current knowledge and skill, and commit to that method until either you succeed or fail. This will help you narrow your focus so you're not just reading every single post on the site. And definitely read the stickies!

@phpbuilt thanks for the fatcat blueprint recommendation. Appreciate your input

Goal: 2 Authority Sites that make $3,000+/mo total by June 30, 2012, with $5,000 or less investment capital.

Why do I choose to outsource and spend money vs my own time? As the CEO of these authority sites, I need to do three things:
    1. Make plans. Plans based not only on my understanding of current best practices, but also from an understanding of my strengths and weaknesses. I tend to get discouraged easily, so if I outsource I at least know that some of the work is getting done.
    2. Execute on the plans. This is done through my monthly budgeting and rough monthly goals. Make sure my outsourcers have everything they need to be successful. Make sure I'm improving necessary skills to execute the plan more efficiently.
    3. Adjust plans. As I'm gaining knowledge and as the project results come in, I'll determine if I'm on track to meet my goals. If not, I'll need to change up the strategy and plans.

I'm using the ce4 theme which is clickbump. I don't think theme really makes much of a difference as long as it's fast and is SEO optimized.

I've been reconsidering my strategy. I have read through XFactor an Adsense Authority site ebook that you can find on bhw: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...-get-xfactor-authority-adsense-guide-new.html
I'm also reading FatCat Blueprint: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...-blueprint-bonus-best-adsense-ebook-ever.html

I believe the easiest way to learn is from other people's mistakes. I finished skimming through Xfactor, and started on Fatcat Blueprint. But also there's a lot to learn from the members here on BHW. That's why I tuned into other people with Journey threads:
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ng-reach-50-day-lots-pictures-will-added.html
YT.com/watch?v=q-P2ua1Wc_I&feature=bf_prev&list=PL3912BCD568ED6EA6&%20lf=results_main (replace http://www.youtube for YT haha)
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ing-my-own-network-sites-banking-100-day.html
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...lueprint-senuke-amr-bmd-xrumer-scrapebox.html
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...71535-33-days-i-will-have-33-day-adsense.html

From XFactor I'm reconsidering my strategy to include "virtual categories" for my sites, and using the most quality article writers that can do natural writing including LSI with 1,000 word articles. Also seems mandatory that I do my own keyword research. From what John from XFactor says, it's a lot better to have a 50 article super quality site with property categories and themes than hundreds of articles with limited themes.

I already ordered 100 articles from ppcmaster, with 50 articles for each site. After they're delivered I might just make 1 site super high quality 5 articles / month, and the other site 30 articles / mo or whatever the equivalent cost is.

Also one other thing I noticed is IntensE's journey is paused for now. I think the reason is, when there's larger short term revenue streams in front of us, it's hard to keep investing time and effort into something that we know will pay off in the long term. This is why I think it's important to keep your expenses low, keep banking away at short lived things, and funnel that money back into long term projects. Hence why I'm earmarking $5k to this project, focused on good outsourcers and whitehat seo services, and starting with a very economical $300/mo spend.

I'll give an update on niches and search volumes when I figure out how to use traffic travis or find another software that's easier for noobs like me to use :)

I have built an authority site also.

One thing I would suggest is to check what keywords your traffic is actually typing into the search engine. Then build pages for the biggest one. I found that I had gotten 3000 visitors over the last 3 months for a keyword the page wasn't targeting.

I do all the writing on the site too. It's a pain but it improves user experience and makes Panda happy. My average visitor goes to over 3 pages. I recently realized there was a gold mine in low profit non-commercial keywords. I found some with lots of traffic but little competition. Then when they hit my site I know they will visit a couple high profit pages before leaving.

    Good luck with your project.
