Goal: 2 Authority Sites that make $3,000+/mo total by June 30, 2012, with $5,000 or less investment capital.
Background. I first started article marketing in late 2007, promoting chinese language courses with ClickBank. Quickly I moved to Craigslist ewhoring, then CPA with social PPC and media buys. But the types of campaigns were unstable, and while the good days were really really good, the bad days were just waiting for the next good day to come. While I tried several times stabilizing my income with different offers, traffic sources, making my own offers, etc it just all seems like a big rat race to me. I'm learning more about whitehat seo in an attempt to create a decent, stable and reliable income stream. My first goal is $100/day or $3,000/mo with 2 authority sites in ~7 months of effort.
I want to build out 2 authority sites with whitehat seo. I have been soaking up threads like a sponge, and I noticed that most threads on authority sites assume limited resources. I am fortunate to have some cash to invest, but my time is tied up in other online ventures, so I'll be looking for a way to outsource everything possible. Hopefully this helps future readers who also have some cash, but limited time. I want to log the different prices and sources for all my outsourcing, and how my methods and providers change over time. I'll try to answer questions whenever I can, and update my results every week or so.
It's really easy getting caught in the BHW black hole, just endlessly reading post after post, thread after thread and not accomplish much that day. But after reading a bunch of whitehat seo stuff, it seems like building an authority site has remarkably stayed the same over the years:
1. Good KW research. This starts with a good niche. I picked two niches that I recently learned a lot about and seem like they could become big sites. Good kw's are ones with high search volume, not too hard to rank, and attract searches with commercial intent. I'm doing KW research mostly myself. I read through BTB guide to KW research, and using common sense.
2. Good Onsite SEO. A lot of this can be done in wordpress + plugins. If you don't know what to do, read GreyWolf's posts. He's ExecutiveVIP for very good reasons.
3. Offsite SEO. Build links. My money sites are my authority sites. I don't shit where I eat, so no spamming my money sites. No SB blasts, forum profiles, crazy bookmarking or article submissions straight to the money site. Maybe tier 1 or tier 2 could be ok, but I'll research it out further. There are a shitton of methods for getting backlinks in this forum. I'm hoping to stumble onto some service providers that appear to be Panda proof, and stay away from anything that could compromise my efforts.
Outsourcing. I'll be doing a lot of it. For this journal, I won't be counting hosting costs or my own labor costs, but I'll try to keep rough track of how much time and money I spend on this project. Because I'm outsourcing almost everything, I'll need to read through all the reviews to make sure service providers are legit before using them, and hopefully I can ask for referral services once I find a couple providers that deliver good results on time.
I will be doing a mixture of link pushing and buying edu, high pr links from BTB, MrE, BigBuddy, and others as I find out about them. Since I will only be building 2 sites, I don't want them fucked up by some second rate service.
Steps so far:
I ordered two MNS+ sites (the $167 package) from the BTB thread on 11/9/11. I got the sites on 11/22, but I'm not really sweating a day or two here or there. I plan on building out these sites over this next 6+ months, so a couple days doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
KW research was also done by the BTB team. I picked two high earning potential niches, one in business opportunity and the other is health. While I was only expecting the advertised 150 kws, I got a total of 250 kw's for each site, or 500 kws total. While some of them don't make much sense, it only takes me 15 minutes to run down the list and get rid of the few weird kw's, so this is definitely a nice value. Any of those kw's seem like potentially big earners with $1+CPC.
Onsite SEO. This was pretty much done for me by the BTB team. The WordPress is up, looks pretty. I'm hoping MrE can help look through my site and give me some advice when I get around to using his service.
Offsite SEO. Nothing yet. I'll be researching different tools and services, and incorporate them into my plan.
