Is a MAJOR Google Update Happening Right Now?

I am also seeing lot of inner pages of authority sites ranking without any backlinks.

I'm seeing some new sites with few backlinks appearing in the first few pages of the niches that I follow. I will report back when I figure out what they are doing differently.

can confirm this. My page has dropped from first page to almost 265th position now :(

Well there was a Big Panda Update Announced so maybe they started rolling out with it?

think you got panda and penguin mixed up.

"[h=2]Significant Penguin Update[/h]Matt said that there will be a large Penguin update in 2013 that he thinks will be one of the more talked about Google algorithm updates this year. Google's search quality team is working on a major update to the Penguin algorithm, which Cutts called very significant."

yes chicken little, the sky is indeed falling, i'll go get my umbrella

The only changes i see is on the up and up. Almost in position #1 that is :) for this keyword. And once again ill dominate while the rest of you will, well you know ....

When it rains, it pours ... Projecting to lose 35k pageviews today ... FML

I guess my blackhat skills need to get even blacker :p

I am seeing the opposite. ROR and Pissed Consumer I had buried rising. But as I said earlier, there is a lot of page churning. The is a certain Mugshot website that attempted a hash collision attack against Google to increase the positioning of their smut. Just recently, G updated Penguin to run 24/7 rather than on demand. The other thing that G has done recently is to implement DNSSec. I am watching and observing with my notepad.

I am not at liberty to say more than this.

Edit add:
Also, besides rotating servers about every three - four hours, G also rotates backup servers in and out about every three months.

lol you're wrong. Penguin isn't 24/7 yet moron.

I hate to chime in on these threads, but a formerly dominant site of mine got clobbered late last year. About a momth ago, we pretty much narrowed it down to a Panda issue that we corrected, and settled in to wait for a Panda refresh. Well, *poof* yesterday the site bounced from nowhere in the last five months, to top-20 for two of its prime keywords. So it may not have been anything major, but I'd put my money on some sort of Panda refresh or adjustment.

Just because you drop in rankings, do not mean that its a Google Update. Could just be you who got hit by Penguin, Panda or Unatural Links maybe.

God I wish my clients Ripoff Reports would drop more! I've had a few of my ORM clients ROR's go higher actually!
