Two weeks after the June spam update: did any of your link sources actually get hit?

Sanity check on the June spam update, now the dust has had two weeks to settle. The rollout ran June 24 to June 26. Two days start to finish, and Google's only comment was that it was "a normal spam update", all languages and locations. Trackers read it as a bit bigger than the March one...

Google confirmed llms.txt does nothing for Search rankings. Stop hand-crafting them for Google.

Every other site audit I look at lately has a freshly minted llms.txt sitting in the root, and the owner is convinced it's helping them show up in AI. Google just put that one to bed. They updated the AI optimization guide. The line that matters: "neither harm nor help your site's visibility...

Google now treats AI citation gaming as link spam. Anyone actually working AI Mode/Overviews yet?

Caught this in the June updates and it's been rattling around my head. Google confirmed its spam policies now cover AI search -> buying or manipulating citations in AI Overviews and AI Mode gets treated the same as inauthentic backlinks. Same framework, same risk. They also changed how links and...

Expired domains can't hold an EXACT brand keyword dropped in under 24h after crawl. Competitors hold it with one domain, zero links. Why?

I'm trying to rank for my exact brand keyword (the search term is identical to the brand name, no extra words) using several expired domains, and I keep hitting the same wall. The pattern: The expired domains are extremely fragile. Every Google update wipes them off the brand term almost...

So today (27th March 2026) Google rolled out another Google Core update. https://status.search.google.com/incidents/7eTbAa2jWdToLkraZj5y Surprisingly, the previous spam update lasted only two days, but it seems it wasn’t entirely ineffective, as we can see a decrease of spam in SERPs in at...

Why Some Pages Rank With AI Content While Others Drop After Updates

Been running some tests with AI-assisted content across a few small projects over the past few months and noticed something worth sharing. Some pages rank and just sit there for months, totally stable. Others shoot up fast and then vanish after the next update. Same content generation method...

Do Google updates hit homepage heavy link profiles harder?

I’ve noticed sites with most of their links pointing to the homepage seem to take bigger hits during updates. I’m starting to spread links more evenly across inner pages and blog content. Has anyone else seen a pattern like that, or maybe the algo just evolved again? What’s your insight on this?
