How are people marketing apps today?

Hi guys,

This is my first post in blackhatworld but I've been a long time active user. I've always been passionate about building passive income, but with a full time job I never really had the chance to pursue it seriously. Lately, with the rise of LLMs and vibe coding, I've been able to start building again after work and on weekends.

I've built a small app and already have a few paying users so I know the product converts, but I'm stuck at scaling traffic. I'm trying to figure out what actually works right now for app marketing in 2026: reddit, tiktok, X, paid ads, SEO/GEO or influencers?

There's a ton of outdated advice out there. If you're currently getting traffic to apps or saas, please let me know what's working and what's not working for you right now.

I built an app just to get backlinks from google.com.

I didn't realize that the app got so many downloads, like 50k or similar.

So, I was thinking, imagine 50k impressions on adsense in the app, how much money i would have earned, maybe not so much but a couple of dollars is good.

My recommendation is that you do a keyword research for google play store.

It's about what people is searching instead what you want.

Focus on a mix: short-form content, Reddit, and SEO. Paid ads only after you know what converts. Don’t rely on one channel double down on what brings real users
 
Short form video works best now. Tiktok and reels drive cheap installs if hook is good.

Also reddit posts in niche subs can bring early users.
 
Short form videos on either social media or Google Play Store ads are working great.

Influencer marketing! Give them a % of the $$ and watch the traffic come in.
 
pay micro workers to search and install your apps from playstore
this works on android playstore only because they won't have iphones
 
Reaching users is quite difficult, but advertising is the best solution, on TikTok and Reddit...
