Expired Domains best practices

All in the title, what is for you the best way to take advantage of an expired domain;
- 301 or not 301
- Redirect to index if 301 ?
- 301ing multiple domains to a money site would work?

I'm researching the subject at the moment, could be nice to exchange about it

In my opinion you want to 301 to a buffer site. Also you can buy a ultra powerful domain and 301 to a buffer that is 100% about your topic to pass a ton of relevancy and "juice" back to your $ site.
Do not 301 direct to the money site unless you are 100% confident that the domain is safe and relevant. I have a test I ran sending a 301 to a buffer site see my bio.
