Duplicate Content on Subdomain

Hello Guys,

Let me tell my problem.
I developed a new website for my agency on a subdomain like: https://new.domain.com and when I moved the content in the main domain: https://domain.com I forgot to put a noindex on the developing subdomain.
Now, my friend Google indexed both verions of the website.
I observed that after the last update because my rankings dropped dramatically even on the pages where the competition is very low.

I fully deleted the content from https://new.domain.com, set a robots.txt file with Disallow:/ and in htaccess I put a redirect on 410.

Now my question is: is possible that dropping to be related to the duplicate content that I accidentally indexed on the subdomain?

That might be one of the reasons, but as you mentioned drastic drop in rankings you have to analyze other factors too. Do a complete analysis, you will get the answer.

Sub domain duplication refers to the duplication of a website or pages of its content on a sub domain. Often this is the result of a development site being held temporarily on a sub domain.

Just delete the sub domain done.
Then hopefully main domain get correct position .
