Does high karma still matter on Reddit today ?

I agree. High karma still helps a little, but relevant and engaging posts seem to perform much better.

I still think karma has some value, but nowhere near as much as people make it out to. A post that fits the subreddit well seems to outperform everything else.
 
Yes karma matter a lot on reddit it give you that difference between just being that regular account and being one trusted member with lots of trusted advices
 
I think karma still helps, especially for joining some communities, but it's not the main factor anymore. Good content, being active, and posting in the right subreddit seem to matter much more now.
 
karma helps but reddit will always reward the post and early audience signals. if you don't get initial traction most likely your post will never go viral
 
From what I am seeing right now, your device's background is much more important than your Reddit account's karma or age
 
I'm fairly convinced daily comment activity is 1000x more important than karma and account age.
 
A high karma score is one of the biggest strengths of a Reddit account. It helps build credibility improves your reputation and makes it easier to participate in communities that have minimum karma requirements.
 
karma type matters more than total count. my aged accounts with solid comment history in the target sub get way better reach than high-karma accounts that farmed post karma elsewhere. reddit definitely looks at where you built it, not just the number.
 
ive run accounts across every spectrum and honestly the karma number itself is basically a vanity metric at this point. what actually moves the needle is whether your account has organic comment history in that specific subreddit before you start posting. an aged account with 100k karma from random subs will get ghosted while a six month old account with topical history will blow up. reddit is looking for subreddit-native behavior, not a big number.
 
High karma still serves its purpose for clearing basic AutoMod entry barriers, but it no longer guarantees distribution or reach.

Nowadays, Reddit relies heavily on Contributor Quality Score (CQS) and network/IP trust signals. If an older, high-karma account drops to a low CQS tier due to sudden IP switches or aggressive self-promotion, its posts get silently filtered regardless of total karma. Organic engagement, sub-relevance, and clean account trust metrics drive post reach now.
