Today Matthew Woodward posted an article on his blog called Which Is The Best Backlink Checker SEO tool in the market today.

His efforts were oriented towards finding out which SEO tool has the biggest backlink database in the world.

So for this, he took what he believes are the top 5 SEO tools in the market for backlink analysis or; at least, what he considered to be the most popular.

For the purposes of his study he picked...

Ahrefs
SEMRush
Majestic
SEO SpyGlass
Moz

And ren the same 1 million URLs into each of those SEO tools.

I was very shocked to see the results.

Ahrefs came in LAST PLACE!

He means that, as the writer of the case study is a SEMRush affiliate, he gets a commission when people sign up so he makes money if it looks like SEMRush is better than ahrefs (it's not).

Interesting to read the updates to the post and responses from ahrefs and Moz calling out SEMRush for misleading data.
 
I too like semrush mainly for keywords. But backlinks ahref gives more details
 
Matt is just in it for commissions.

Who ever pays him the most wins. I am talking about under the table or rug
 
Semrush is more newbie friendly, the overall ease of analysing the data and keywords seal the deal for most of 1st timers.
 
Semrush is good for keyword analysis and annoying for backlink analysis. Conversely, Ahrefs is excellent for backlink analysis and annoying for keyword analysis.
 
Ahref, no need to do any case study.
 
Ahrefs is my top pick if you can afford a paid tool otherwise you can use Neil Patel's backlink checker tool. Neil Patel's tool is free and it gives almost equal results compared to Ahrefs. The only drawback is it only crawls a few links on the other hand Ahrefs provides each and every backlink associated with the domain.
 
This dude is a typical guru affiliate. Full of shit and with everything he does aff links. Which is how it works as enough people will take the bait.

I've used several tools for backlinks also and nothing comes even close to Ahrefs.

Say what you want but Woodward is actually one of the decent guys in IM. Affiliate marketing is what he does and he's very open about it.

Is he full of shit because he's making a genuine recommendation and making money off of it unlike most of BHW that shills Amazon products without ever trying them out? Because that's how affiliate marketing SHOULD work.

This test is about the biggest backlink database, not the most accurate database.

Did you replicate his test before coming to the conclusion that Ahrefs is the best backlink checker?

As said, I've tested several tools including Semrush and Moz plus a few lesser known ones. When it comes to backlinks there is no better tool than Ahrefs and as the title of this thread states "Which is the best backlink checker" it's by far Ahrefs.

These videos are pretty standard for YT affiliate marketers.
