Are we using keyword research tools wrong in 2026?

This is very similar to what most of the folks here are doing. For me, the interesting part is what comes between saying "this topic has promise" and writing the piece.

What would be your criteria to reject a topic based on your analysis of Trends and the SERP even when the keyword has fair volume and low competition?

For me, things such as negative trend, weak click-through rate potential, lack of intent, or Google having the answer to the query already will be factors to think about.

Do you have some sort of check list in your mind or it is more based on your experience with the SERPs?
