Repeat: Journey to another 10,000 a month

Got a large string of chargebacks today, resulting in a negative total for the week while I dispute them. While I should win them, it's frustrating dealing with the fraud associated with digital services. And even if they are won it still results in a $30 fee per chargeback.

I have a lot of protections in place, but even then most people with a credit card are able to get away with large amounts of fraud. The dispute process is hit or miss even with my accounts high status. (I found support got worse when I got upgraded to dedicated business support manager...)

PM'd. Unfortunately I am fairly well versed with these after dealing with digital goods and services for so long. If a customer goes around PayPal and does a direct debit or credit card chargeback even with evidence it can be very difficult to win. We have some procedures, evidence gathering and IPN logs that help, but PayPal can be pretty wishy woshy in how they proceed. Once even had a chargeback from over a year back. (Thanks AMEX!)
 
Sorry to hear about the chargeback problems. Is this a common problem for selling digital services and goods? How do well established sites like fiverr handle it? Or small businesses who do digital service arbitrage--seems like a big net loss if the chargeback goes through because they will have to pay out of their pocket for the service. Makes me want to steer clear of digital services.

That's also why Fiverr charges such a service fee. $1 from the free lancer and I believe an extra service fee of $.50 from the customer. It really depends on the scale of your business and your margins. Right now since the site is still developing the customer base and the revenue is lower a chargeback of multiple orders can hurt moreso then if it was doing 10k+. It is an inherent risk if you decide to go this way because the lack of support from payment processors. However, after specializing mainly in intangible goods and services for the last few years I still do it so there is clearly some upside as well.

Nothing too special here. I used some services for my base SEO that were detailed in the first few posts, the domain already had good metrics and I post fresh content every few days. I reach out for niche related blogs and sites for advertising / guest posts, if they have a forum I'll join and interact with the community, probably about 30% of my traffic is from referrals. And I also make look through fiverr for small scale sellers who have a REAL website in the general niche with decent real metrics. These can take a lot of work to find but they definitely pay higher dividends then PBN's for around the same price.
 
Purchased some PBN links from @King SEO, should give a further SERP boost. Will update SERP results a bit more frequently over the next few weeks

Here's the further update.

I ended up winning one of the Asian Poker Tour events :) In terms of developing content and taking care of the site, I've slacked pretty hard this past month and it still did over 1k net. I'm just getting back into the swing of things now and working on a new game plan.

I'm definitely noticing a trend of blackhat / grey hat SEO not being as effective as it once was. I'm analyzing some tests on some alternate sites to see what is the most effective. I'm also testing a newer site without any non organic SEO in parallel for easy comparison.

Right now my most effective conversions are coming from facebook ads and google ads still. I might put together an affiliate program and try offering up something to some sites with relevant traffic. I've also been in contact with a few people who have some niche relevant email lists.

The niche isn't really keeping my attention anymore, so I'm contemplating building it to a solid point and then flipping it. I find it is essential to work on things that interest me.

You thread is interesting, and you're right it's better to be in a business that interests you.
I'm fairly impressed at your success with Facebook ads, usually I only get good sales in remarketing.
 
$10k is a hefty goal OP, but I'm sure you can reach it!

I'm doing an interesting experiment with my adwords. 78% of my ads served have been on the display network, and I lazily have never optimized for that yet. I've now split my display and search ad campaigns and I'm working on split testing some image based ads.

So far using CPM with the display network is working out to 0.04 per click, and that is not optimized. Right now the targets are broad so the CTR is low, but I am slowly trimming the fat. This is versus 0.14 of search. What has yet to be seen is the quality of the clicks. As I gather more information, I'll be sure to share whatever insights I gain.

I will generally try out my devs from freelance market places because I know what I'm looking for. Once I find one that suits my needs and meets my expectations consistently I'll bring them on as salaried. I currently have a great Indonesian, doing great work at a great price. I benefit from understanding what needs to be done, but if you don't understand the technical aspect it can be a lot more difficult initially.

I did a post on it earlier, but TLDR I mostly use Upwork.
